Quote: from Skip on 9:32 pm on Aug. 7, 2008 Apple's engineering standards are the best in the industry. Would you agree?
I would agree that Apple engineering is extremely innovative, but I would not agree Apple makes the most reliable products. Numerous complaints about batteries on many Apple products have plagued them for years, especially since the batteries are not user replaceable on many products such as the iPod. Not long ago, we all got cell phones for free or a nominal price when signing a 2 year contract, and we just expected a new phone when the contract was renewed. But when you fork over $200 - $300 for a phone, maybe it should last more than 2 years.

BTW, the new Samsung Instinct (an iPhone clone) has replaceable battery. They even give you an extra battery with the phone so you can have a hot spare. Instinct costs $129 with service contract. The iPone does not have a replaceable battery (sealed case like the iPod). Unfortunately, you can only get the Instinct with Sprint in the US. http://www.instinctthephone.com

That is a lie... well, if that sounds too strong, then lets simply say that it is not true. It is already available in Canada with Bell Mobility and in another week will be available with Telus. Now, if anyone worries about the availability of this phone (the one known as the Instinct, aka M800), then just go for the older F490. Afterall, the "new" Instinct is a lower version of the previously released F490.

You are misinterpreting my post. Another way to phrase it is that in the US, it is only available with Sprint service, in a similar manner that iPhone is only available with AT&T service in the US. I never meant to suggest that Instinct is only available in the US, since that is hardly a disadvantage to me even if it were true. The reason why it is such a disadvantage is that Sprint is a horrible service provider. I would never again use Sprint even if they were the only mobile phone service provider available.

2 points yes apples technical skills and engineering etc is apparent dont forget that they then ship it all out to china to be assembled by illiterate poor chinese people for $2 a week thats why bits fall off and go wrong and not having a removable battery is a shocker if you keep it on 3g all the time it drains the battery no end, and if you are on the move and unable to charge the battery, how are you supposed to work if you cant swap it for a spare??

MISINTERPRETING?? Hmmmm..... Let me try to read it slowly: Unfortunately,.... you..... can only get...... the Instinct...... with Sprint in the US. Lets try to understand part by part. - Unfortunately: Ok, that is something that is not positive. - You: Ok, that is Alan addressing the reader. So it is me or anyone else reading what he wrote. - Can only get: There is no other way to obtain.... - The Instinct: That is the phone the subject of the information that Alan gives. - With Sprint in The USA: With this company in that country.Ok, now this gives total meaning to what he has been building up to. That is, that something not good (Unfortunately) the reader (you) have no other way (can only get) this phone (the Instinct) with this specific company in this specific country (with Sprint in the USA. I do not think that is misinterpreting. Maybe it was misspeaking from you. After your last post, I now know what you had intended to say (That in the USA you can only get service with the Instinct through Sprint). However, that is not what you actually said the first time. No misinterpreting here.

From what I have read, Instinct does not have WiFi. Something that APPL added to iPhone because of pressure from the market. Most of the big players will have a iPhone type device available before the end of the year. Blackberry intends to have several different type models. I will wait until next year when my current SingTel contract comes up for renewal and will see what the market offers then...
