Well, an ugly hooker will serve as well as a beautiful one, but while Confucius may have gone for either, I don't think anyone here would!

I agree with both of you, pussy and kool, but my question remains - do you apply the same logic to your food, your cars or the drinks you drink? Coz I don't! And if not, is it PURELY because you think you look better using the ones you use than a cheaper one - or is your choice at least partly because you actually prefer the ones you go for?

(I kinda like the fact that Macs look cooler, but to be honest, I think Mac USERS look wankier...555...but the reason I now use them are because they are a pleasure to use, whereas I find PCs a pain. You can choose not to believe me, I guess, haha).

Confucious said : " Cover the face and fire the base ! "

A hole is a hole, is a hole, is a hole, is a hole,.........

White/yellow/brown/black holes doesn't really matter as long as you can fire your "bullets" into them !

Once you start down that line of reasoning, you'll find yourself with a camel or a pig!

Apple has the device size marketing innovation niche presently... they design great gadgets for that perfect ergonomic / human hand fit

so now most electronic gadget makers are copying Apples models... iPhone touch sizes 3x4 inch, MacBook 13.3 screen sizes

mobility gadgets for work and play while your away from the workstation or desktop....

better adaption is still needed with wireless data transfer among your gadgets... work to mobile to home etc.... better voice recognition Input commands would help along with present touch screens and keyboard devices

giving single noun-verb voice commands to select video, music, software work touch, mouse click, keyboard would greatly help the computing experience..... Dragon Speech only goes so far

software and hardware devices are out there but in proprietary systems.... the future is in combining these features for computing use ease

best way to buy new laptop... is to load it up with all the software apps multitask its microprocessor/motherboard and ram to the max... internet stream sports, copy a movie/music dvd, work on a photoshop task, and have chat open... load it up....

workloads! this is where the big 5 makers fail... and customizing units succeed... core i5/7 with 8gigs ram and a 1T drive... in 16" HD screen BluRay DVD

If you're so strapped for cash that you buy the best value car, the best value apt, the best value fittings, the best value food, you choose your booze for alcohol content - then for sure, go for a PC. But if you're happy to pay a bit extra for a nice meal, if your favourite drink isn't cut price cider or cheap thai-made whiskey, if you enjoy a nice car - why not enjoy a lovely computer too? You probably spend far more time on your computer than in your car, and the price difference between a value car and the car you probably drive is far more than between a PC and a Mac.
That's probably one of the best ways to put it that I've read so far.

That's the whole point, getting things done. A PC gets the job done. A MAC gets the job done (sometimes). But some people feel that if they spend more money they get the job done looking better doing it. Even though it doesn't matter which you use, they both get the job done, especially now that MAC uses the Intel processor.
Hey, some cars use intel processors, so does that mean they also get the job done that a PC does?

People like yourself simply don't have a clue, and don't get it - it has woefully little to do about what CPU a given system uses, but what software it uses to allow you to get your job done.

Do both platforms enable you to get the job done? Of course.

Saying that a Mac gets the job done (sometimes), as you do, makes me question why you threw the (sometimes) in there, seeing as how the PC is usually brought down by virus and malware infections that compromise productivity and the ability 'to get the job done' - while a Mac does not.

Lastly, 'PC' is an abbreviation, thus written in all caps. It stands for 'P'ersonal 'C'omputer.
'Mac' is an abbreviation, hence the mixed case spelling, and it is a short form of saying 'Macintosh'.

It is a distinction that matters, mostly because it separates those who pay attention to such things (and understand basic rules of writing) and those who just ape the PC metaphor, and don't know and don't care.

What it comes down to, is very similar to what farangman4 stated - basically, if you don't care, for yourself, of for what you do - go for a PC. It's perfect for you.

If you do, get a Mac.

To resort to trivial syntax corrections when you understand me perfectly well is well....trivial. Most experienced users of either system are for the most part smart enough to use good firewall, and virus protection. So that is a trivial moot point simply aimed at the novice off the shelf computer buyer.

The "sometimes" reference I use to Mac systems is mostly in reference to the plain fact that Macintosh, and the operating system they use, are the last software engineers port their product to, And god forbid waiting for software updates for a Mac. Some companies find it not even worth providing updates for Mac. That is why Mac went to using the Intel processor. With doing that Mac in know open to the same virus, and malware threats as the PC. So for those that rely on off the shelf, the salesman knows best mentality, happy computing........lolol.

I'll personally save the extra thousand, and get a much more reliable, and useful, PC Intel based system. Those looking to go the cheap route can buy AMD.......lol.

Thing is, Kool, I understand what you are saying, and when I used a PC these were the arguments I used to laugh at daft Mac users (a mac user is someone who cannot use a computer, etc etc etc).

But the experience of using a Mac is just much nicer. Who needs the latest software these days? I never use the new features. What exactly do you use your computer for? I use mine mainly for surfing and MS office stuff. PCs and Macs are the same - ironically, just as you say - just Macs are more pleasant, and on a very straightforwards consumer decisionmaking thing, just like I chose a nice comfortable bed to sleep in without caring about the technology inside (and paid a little more for it), I've done the same with the laptop I use.

Sorry to go on like a stuck record, but really, for most people, all that techie stuff - and mac users are just as prone to it, 64 bit blah blah, like I care - I just don't want to have to know. If I'm thinking about the inside of the computer when using it, then something's gone wrong with it.

Not true. The Mac operating system, OS X, is UNIX based, and simply by the way it is written is inherently more secure than m$-winbloat.
