Actually, yeah -- obvious irony, considering the DTAC would have been the better option (technologically), or AIS would have been the better option coverage wise.

This is unfortunate - someone at Apple must have been bribed, I mean, charmed, to make the only wrong choice.

Actually, in all seriousness, I believe that True's selling point was the wide area coverage of the Wifi hotspots, which will most likely be rolled into a package with the iPhone plans they might offer - similarly to the deals offered in England with The Cloud, to compensate for the lack of 3G coverage in Thailand.

Still, not quite sure how I feel about this.

if the share price goes down, you can buy another one

if it goes up, you can sell a share

oh by the way, buttman asked you a question a week ago

is this another example of your selective responses??
if he said the blackberry storm touchscreen is better than iphones you would have replied within 30 seconds

whenever its a question seeking hard facts from you, you disappear?!

FIB, Finchy - just a question now if the True deal is an exclusive, or if the remaining carriers will be given the iPhone as well (which I hope). It should all be decided by Christmas...

It's not exclusive. AFAIK, Apple is still talking with both AIS and DTAC.

Gartner's latest and greatest analysis of the global smartphone industry is in, and there are quite a few interesting nuggets tucked within all those percentages.

For starters, the sector still managed to grow 11.5% in Q3 2008 compared to a year prior, but that increase is the smallest since it began tracking. Of course, given the current economic climate, we'd say it's a win to see any number not in the negative.

Moving on, we see Nokia maintaining its numero uno status with 42.4% market share, though it did recognize a rare decline in sales of 3% year-on-year; as for RIM, its BlackBerry phone sales increased an amazing 81.7% in Q3.

We're also clued in to why Apple was rumored to be hacking its iPhone production some 40% in Q4, as the company has some two million units of inventory built up in the supply channel.

Finally, we're told that "for the first time (meaning in this quarter), iPhone sales exceeded sales of Microsoft Windows Mobile devices worldwide and in North America," and beyond that, "open-source initiatives like Android and Symbian Foundation [are set to] challenge Windows Mobile's licensing model in the short-term."

Another day another Apple store. Munich is the place, though judging from the scene out front it appears as though no one noticed. Ho-hum...

Just how this company remains viable, it's beyond me, really.
