I have now returned to the UK and have a 1-2-Call simcard which is valid until January 2005 with a few Bart left on it.
The card will need topping up minimum 300Baht, if anybody will be going to LOS in the next few weeks and needs a card for a few weeks and expects to use more than 900Baht so the card will be valid until April please PM me for my UK address to send SAE, would appreciate card back after use.

At a couple of baht (250 or so) for a new simcard hardly worth the trouble.
Plus if you buy a new card you'll get at least 50 baht free calls for free.
Put it on Ebay. Maybe there's a sucker who wants to have it. Put on a bidding price of US$0.01 and charge him US$7.95 for postage.

This is a good offer for someone from the U.K. to be up and running with a working SIM card upon arrival to Thailand. Then they do not have to go to a shop, buy one, have it activated, etc.

I presume that Basil is taking the long way around so he can keep his original phone number...
If you want to send it to LoS, I'll make a minimum duration call once a month and recharge it with a 300 baht refill card [with your money.] Then you'll have ~1485 baht on your SIM card when you get here 5 months from now.
I already have a phone and don't need a spare, plus with this approach your number doesn't get broadcast to the world by someone else.
PM if that's a solution that works.

Bit of wishful thinking… I just feel pissed off that every time I return to LOS I can not reactivate my old card and forgo any credits left on the card and have to get a new card and number; I will not know the new number before leaving the UK so I have to call up those who may need to contact me in an emergency to inform them of my new number, I suppose those credits end up in some fat cats pension fund…
In actual fact there seems to be a fast recycling of defaulted numbers as I received a number of local calls which were not for me, on the one occasion I handed the phone to my TGF saying I did not recognise the number, she answered the phone and had quite a long and heated chat with the caller.
When the caller hung up, she explained the call had been trying to contact a Mr Bond and I should not have that number as it belonged to Mr Bond, I was waiting for the caller to call again so I could explain that James had been killed of by Blowfelt who had been reincarnated as a khatoy and had given James such a blow job he just blew up…
The offer is still there anybody wants it, available to the first person who PM’s me with a UK address, to have it returned valid for my next trip was just wishful thinking and not that important.

If you have a TGF, perhaps in the future she can keep your SIM card and top up your phone from there.
Or buy top-up cards and top up from the UK.

You can buy a DTAC SIM card for 800 baht and add to it in 3 month increments up to one year out from the present date.
Hopefully, sometime in the future, you will able to add to it via the Internet.
