Has anyone else seen a issue with peers dropping when you have a Thai IP? I use a VPN service (www.strongvpn.com) and with that on, I'm able to connect with other peers.
When it's off.. nada. Are the other peers blocking IP's?
Anyways, its nice to have a USA IP and secure connection.

i use torrent all the time here with no problems. Connections come and go here (just like anywhere else) and never experience blocking. There are plenty of other ways to deal with speed, security, anonymity, etc.
A VPN can be helpful in some circumstances however you can get free IP randomizers to grab IP addresses from almost anywhere you want. TOR and others things, albeit slower, are free, give good protection and run from a thumb drive so you can use at inet cafes, the office, etc.
This may not solve everyone's problems but certainly addresses the majority of things most are concerned with.
I am suspicious of anyone marketing anonymity especially a US firm. The long arm reaches far and deep as we have seen over the years. The US govt has been instrumental in shutting down many anonymizing services (esp OUTSIDE the US).
As shown by the recent example of the feds getting phone records outside its legal mandate on untold numbers of private citizens....no one should believe that there is real security or anonymity.

Because you're no longer on the Thai ISP when you are on VPN.
