yes that would make sense, an unlocked iphone that works perfectly but can magically lock itself again for certain areas only??
how come then it works in dubai with that card as roaming, but not in its HOME country ??
what about all over cnn yday about the data blackout for iphones in usa??

You should have just picked up an AT&T SIM - they offer pre-paid as well, and they work just fine in iPhone 3Gs (unlocked, *or* locked, incidentally).
well your second theory didnt work - I tried that, it just cant get a network in usa with a usa tmobile sim, but any other sim it works fine?
so your third reply was interesting - is there something in it that stops a tmobile usa sim working in any iphone, even if unlocked
i mean I can put in my thai or dubai or uk sim they all work fine in usa with this iphone but not a usa sim??

ok then daffy any ideas on how I can get it to "work" with my usa t mobile sim card IN USA ??!?!
when it works fine with usa card in dubai but not in usa
and every other sim I have works fine too??

Talk to T-Mobile. Not my problem, really.
I'll simply maintain that, apparently, it's not as unlocked as you previously believed it were. The 'home country' has little to do with it, it's the 'home network' that matters -- and lastly, you do not know if your specific iPhone 3G originated in and for the USA.

where did I mention anything about the IPHONE"S home country??
i am referrring to the fact that I am IN USA WITH A USA SIM CARD
this card works in dubai with roaming
why then would it not work IN USA which is its HOME NETWORK for the sim
surely if it wasnt going to work it would be overseas
i will ask again, this time in american, not english:
why is it that a USA sim card is not working IN USA ?!?!?
but that very same sim card works everywhere else in the world with that same iphone that was bought from italy so would be considered as an "italian network" phone
this very same iphone works with all my other sim cards in all other countries INCLUDING usa
so why is it that the one sim card that SHOULD work, ie a USA sim in USA, doesnt??
its a simple question to a professional apple-ite like yourself
it cant be the sim, it works in other phones, here and global, and in the iphone elsewhere
its not the iphone, it works with every other sim here and global, and the usa sim global
so please enlighten me why how who what
and see if u can try to answer respectfully and politely for a change

yes everything is fine like that, even I can change networks, at&t or tmobile, manual or automatic
but whatever network I choose it says "no service"
then suddenly it will flash full bars and "tmobile" then drop again to no service
