Quote: from DaffyDuck on 1:27 am on Sep. 23, 2008 Nokia underwent the exact same thing last year: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/14/AR2007081401474.html
Errr... That was cell phone batteries iDuck not chargers. Sorta like the laptop batteries that APPL had to recall
Quote: from DaffyDuck on 1:27 am on Sep. 23, 2008 Similarly, Nokia has a massive recall of CELL PHONES due to a software glitch that caused problems with 3G networks. Odd that was never brought up when Apple allegedly had similar problems -- and fixed them in the field with a software update, versus a hardware recall. http://www.pcworld.com/article/46584/nokia_faces_massive_cell_phone_recall.html So, equipment recalls aren't news, and certainly not doom 'n gloom news that you would like them to be.
Damn iDuck, do you even read your references? I mean like 2001.... at the dawn of the 3G age.... Nokia had a recall.... yep! It is the new technology thing y'know. But in the case of iPhone 3G technology was around and working for most manufacturers for what.... 7 years ...

Hoping for a heads'up on iPhone values. I have a 8gb model, less than a year old I cracked the glass plate, still functions and use of the phone is not affected except for the distraction of the cracks. Apple wants $250 for the repair, for that I can upgrade to 3G. Is there a market to sell the phone in Thailand that makes sense for me to repair it, and then sell it in Nov on my next visit?

...Oh, you must mean the same ones that Dell, hp, and Sony had to recall as well, and which plummeted Sony, since they manufactured those cells (and which no one uses anymore). Like I said, not even news worthy -- you have effectively reduced yourself to a barely tolerable troll... Enjoy your life of hypocrisy, in the meantime...

You can do the repair yourself - which is one of the more tricky repairs out there, but here's a YouTube video explaining it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X1z0pw2VK7M There's also several sites to assist you with this issue, and some selling the part -- but the screen runs about $180-$200 - I'm also quite certain that someone in MBK offers this sort of repair. http://www.iphoneatlas.com/2007/08/16/dealing-with-a-cracked-iphone-screen-repair-other-options/ http://www.rapidrepair.com/shop/4120-lcd-screen-repair-iphone.html http://shop.brando.com.hk/prod_detail.php?prod_id=02450&dept_id=059&cat_id=0308 Since the generation 1 iPhone you have holds its value quite well, as it is easily unlockable, you should be able to get a nice price for it - probably around $400-$450, if you shop it around, have the original packaging, as well as a set of new accessories (power adapter, synch cable, and headphones).

"yeh its ok, look I have 20 shares in apple at $150 each, take my word for it, now let me have 20 kool-aids and some ky"

Indeed iDuck, But you are missing the point. Let's see.... I comment on a recall on the iPhone chargers important enough to be reported on in Fortune by its APPL writer. You take two digs at Nokia (which you know I own) by commenting on batteries made by a supplier (of which you point out hit many different products) and a 3G glitch from 2001. I call you on your response so you call me a troll.... Riiiiight.... because I provide valuable information to the readers and you provide some 'smoke and mirrors' in response this makes me the troll? I think it is time for a reality check iDuck...

I point out a recall on the Nokia phone bateries important enough to be reported on in Fortune by its Big Tech writer. http://bigtech.blogs.fortune.cnn.com/2007/08/14/nokia-battery-warning-overheating-problem-across-range-of-phones/ I don't really see the differences, except that melting down and exploding batteries do seem to pose a significantly higher safety risk, than metal prongs breaking off in a power adapter. I don't recall you going out of your way to point out these battery failures back in 2007 as they are certainly also valuable information. Lastly, I don't care about taking a dig at Nokia, wether you own them or not, but rather was more interested to point out that product recalls and product glitches affect all manufacturers -- which I pointed out quite clearly in my response. Typical of you to either be paranoid enough to misinterpret it, or twist the words deliberately, again, as you are so wont to do.
