I know a young lad, who deperately needs a computer
for his home work.

I think by what I gathered,he must have had one,but his mother had to sell it for rent or something. the wys and whyfores, I wont go into.

I arrive late this month for two months, and feel I would love to help this 12 year old, and exceptional clever lad,
who calls me PaPa.

My question is where is the best place to buy a second hand computer, I cannot remember seeing any at MBK and do not know about pantip.

why you ask a second hand, if he has this, and can hold onto it for awhile, I will consider a new one. but
family members are another thing.
not looking for a games machine, just thought a laptop
of sorts would do.
your comments appreciated

Actually depending on your requirements, you could get a brand new one for under 10,000 B (from Panthip). I bought a shuttle with a Celeron processor, 512 MB of RAM 40 GB hard disk, for only 7,200 B. That was 3 years ago. And a 17" monitor is about 2,000B+.

Loads off stuff in Panthip. Would it be better (quality and price) to bring one with you?

pickup the Asus Eee Pc. its small and usable (with 802.11b/g WiFi, Ethernet and a modem for connectivity, along with a webcam, 512MB of RAM and a 4, 8 or 16GB flash drive. and the real kicker is that its a 2 pound laptop) for a second laptop or a learning one for kids. runs about $399.

I think Newegg.com will have more in stock middle of the month.

I got one the other day from a friend. fast bootup, lightweight, sturdy, usable. surfs the net like a charm, although with the small screen a lot of scrolling is involved. the keyboard is small and cramped but its size makes up for it. check it out. there should be a black model soon as well.

cheers

the Asus Eee Pc can be found in Thailand now. costs 11,900 +VAT. can install XP as well.

picked up one, its quite nice, no replacement for a real laptop but totally usable. ideal for a student or child (due to small size keyboard)
