Sorry guys, but I have searched extensively for a thread for mobile phone and computer thickies but cannot find one nor one that deals with my problem.
My daughter and occasionally a few of my 5,000 nieces in Thailand send me photos from their mobile to my mobile.
My mobile does not have the facility to show pics since it is nearly as antiquated as I am.
AIS mobilelife.com, the service which AIS has up and running, in which you can send text mesages ( severely restricted in size ) for free over the internet to any mobile phone.
If my daughter or any one of my nieces sends a photo, AIS send me a message on my phone that I can access it at a particular internet address.
I have been successful only twice in accessing the said pictures.
Most times, it says that my attempt at accessing it has failed.
Yes, I know the immediate and obvious solution is to buy a new phone that has photo facility, but I am a cheap charlie and my phone is good for calling anyone all over the world. ( An old siemens A50 made about 357 B.C. ) Excellent reception and very clear. Never lets me down.
Is there any other solution to my problem in accessing a photo on this mobilelife.com service ? Or does it only work for some photo formats ?
I don't wish to enter into discussions with AIS since they might access it for me in their offices and I am not past the age of being embarrassed, not that my daughter sends me anything untoward.
It's the others that I am concerned about. I have some pretty down-to-earth nieces, bless them.

Well, Joe, I'm might be able to help you with 99% of your problem. Simply give the nieces my phone number; they can send the photos to me, and I'll forward them on to your actual email.
This has the added advantage in that I'll be able to screen them for you, and not waste any of your time with the ones that are either not up to your well known standards, or are too far up to mine.
I suggest this system, because I also have had some troubles with mobilelife. The photos seem to expire pretty soon on there, I recall. With others, the links don't work. And I'm glad you started this thread, because it reminds me of an similar occurrence I'm having.
Let me repeat your question that I too would like to know the answer to:

I've got a phone that's supposed to receive photos. It does receive them, and I can send them too. But it also receives periodically a message from mobile life, just like the ones that ask me to check out a page there for the message someone's sent me......... except that the last letters are "init". I look up this "init" in a websearch and I find that it is most likely a viral program of some kind. So who keeps sending me "init"? Junkmail, or... ? It hasn't linked to any picture I can figure out.
But still, at the back of my mind, I worry that I'm missing some good picture... from some nice person...

I know this to be true in my case, as a few of my nieces always call me to let me know when they're sending their most recently taken snaps so that I can fully anticipate a further and deeper appreciation of their developments by graphicaly describing the content.
But when mobilelife inform me that I can access this photo, I can't.
But unlike seajohn's messages, I don't get any "inits" in the address.
Any kind soul out there who can help ?
