devastating news, I suspected, after he stepped down in August, that he was on borrowed time, but I had hoped he would have lived longer. Steve was a genius who revolutionised the IT world, created beautiful products which I have enjoyed greatly, and still do. What a better tribute than an adaptation of the famous 1997 advertising slogan - THINK DIFFERENT

Here’s to the crazy one.

The one who saw things differently.

He wasn't fond of rules. And he had no respect for the status quo.

You can quote him, disagree with him, glorify or vilify him. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore him. Because he changed things.

He pushed the human race forward. And while some may have seen him as the crazy one, we saw genius.

Because the man who was crazy enough to think he could change the world, was the one who did.

the first Mac I got was a Mac Plus in the late 80s,

for the time a great piece of hi tech, amazing what could be done with a floppy disc and no Hard Drive,

MacWrite, MacPaint, MacDraw etc were fun and got work done,

My friends worked at a magazine and started doing the magazine with the Mac, we found programs, traded them around and helped each other figure them out,

The magazine still uses Macs, I bought a windows machine 10 years ago because of the price,
but I still smile when I run across a project I did with the old Mac and how good it looks even today,

Its too much to say we would not have desktop computers without Jobs, they just would not have been the same and some of the fun would not be there.....

Last night the TNT network changed it program schedule to show the movie The Pirates of Silicon Valley. This is a movie that explores the early history of Apple and Microsoft and how tightly interrelated the lives of Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were. The period runs from the days they were in college through Steve Jobs 30th birthday.

It has an interesting twist at the end that I never saw coming.

BTW, did Jobs go to IHeaven.... well that depends on how forgiving God is cuz Jobs was a real asshole that destroyed several people's lives when he was young.

... and you're a real asshole for making allegations that you're not backing up on a person's obituary thread.

If you want to look for a person that destroyed (literally) people's lives, look no further than Bill Gates.

It's also a whole lot of make-believe, and gets a lot of stuff just plain wrong.

Nice touch to re-air it, but it's a terrible show.

The best part about it was Noah Wylie as Jobs, and how that same year, he was a special guest at a MacWorld, walking on stage and starting the keynote as if he were Steve Jobs... with a laughing Steve Jobs walking out shortly after to relieve him...

it is news that publisher Simon & Schuster is bringing forward publication of the authorised bio of Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson on October 24th. It should make interesting reading as "Jobs placed no restrictions on what Isaacson could write, and waived the right to read it before it was published. The publisher has promised readers a never-before-seen glimpse of Jobs, featuring interviews with "foes, former girlfriends, and colleagues he had once fired or infuriated."

I'll download it on my iPad 2 as soon as it is available in iTunes UK - here the source Appleinsider

Jobs sought to have the biography written in order to leave something behind for his children, so that they may know more about him, as he hasn't always had the time to spend with them.

... never an Apple disciple, I admired the devoted cult following he created... I find the outpouring over the last days remarkable.

... I am trying to imagine any figure, ever, whose passing motivated such sympathies as we are witnessing these last days... Gandhi?... JFK?... Jacko?... Princess Di?... Marilyn?... I am uncertain any touched more lives than this guy... Ghandhi more meaningfully changed lives, but not nearly so pervasively.

... Steve Jobs changed human lifestyles the world over, democratizing for the world access TO the world... only in a globalized society is this sort of imprint possible.

... curious how his passing continues to play out.

He's was not very well liked from the get go. I worked in Silicon Valley (In high tech) from the late 70's to Mid 80's and had a opportunity to observe from a distance the development of Apple and knew engineers/software people working at Apple during that period. Iron fisted control freak he was.

In 20 years few kids are going to know who Steve Jobs was. How many kids today know what a Walkman is?

What has Job's done with his wealth? At least Gates is getting antibiotics into third world country's.

Job's was a visionary, some of the early credit should go to Wozniak too. Jobs was just a modern Barnum & Baily.

Hi mate hope we can catch up for that beer in a week or so?

Steve Jobs was Smart and he had a three year plan mapped out for apple as he knew the end was near.

If I had shares in apple maybe it would be a good time to sell some while there still up there but looking down the track they may just slide down.
