Market share is not determined by units shipped, it is based on actual sales.

Precisely - glad you realize that.

A 15% drop in market share can easily explain the drop in stock price, not profit grabbing. Stockholders are not loyal, they fly away at the very first signs of trouble, and a 15% drop in market share signals trouble.

Apparently, you don't realize what I already pointed out several times - that capital gains taxes are bound to take a hit next year, and increase from 15% to over 23%. A good enough reason for most institutional shareholders to take their profits, pay taxes for this year, and pick the stock up again next year.

The same "precipitous" drops have happened all over the stock market for the past math, and will undoubtedly continue over the next 6 weeks.

That is more logical than simply sluffing off stock price drop as profit taking. Corporations don't like stock prices to go anywhere but up, especially an ego driven corporation like Apple.

You haven't realized yet that Apple doesn't give one iota of care about their stock price, or are you just trolling?

Investors advised to buy Apple stock after 'insanely insane' selloff

By Neil Hughes

After eight weeks of Apple's plummeting value, one analyst believes the selloff has reached a point of being "insanely insane."

Brian White of Topeka Capital Markets is baffled by the sharp selloff of Apple stock during the company's strongest quarter of the year. In the latest downturn, the company's value is off 28 percent from its peak in September.

He noted that Apple has delivered annual growth that is 13-fold greater than the S&P 500 over the last eight years. Despite this, Apple trades at a 20 percent price-to-earnings ratio discount when compared to the S&P 500.

"While we don't expect Apple to grow (earnings per share) by 92% per annum over the next five years, we believe 20-30% growth is reasonable based on the company' slow market share in mobile phones and PCs, combined with growth opportunities in tablets and new potential areas such as Apple TV," White wrote in a note to investors on Monday.

Apple had $121.3 billion in cash at the end of its fiscal year 2012, amounting to nearly $128 per share, or 24 percent of the company's stock price. Even if Apple decides to pay out a higher dividend to investors, White believes Apple will still hold nearly $204 billion in net cash by the end of fiscal 2014, which would amount to $212 per share or 40 percent of the current stock price.

"As such, the dividends that Apple can afford to pay out in the future are significant," White said, "and there is no reason why Apple should not currently be paying out at least a 3-4% dividend yield (or $16-$21 per share) versus the current 2% yield (or $10.60 per share)."

Despite recent losses, Topeka Capital Markets is standing by its $1,111 12-month price target for AAPL stock.

Apple stock rebounds 7.21% after hitting half-year low

By AppleInsider Staff

AAPL stock closed up 7.21 percent by the end of trading on Monday, breaking a recent slump that saw share values drop down to a six-month low of $527.28 last week.

While still far from the mid-September high of $705.07, Apple stock gained over $38 to close at $565.73, up 7.21 percent from the day's start. The rise brings an end to nearly eight weeks of losses as skittish investors began dumping shares after value peaked two months ago.

Analysts have speculated that AAPL's precipitous fall can be blamed on hedge fund and individual investors' worries of an anticipated U.S. capital gains tax rate hike expected to hit in 2013. While a raise in tax liability may be a factor, a more likely scenario is the compounding of multiple variables such as Apple's new product introductions and the company's fiscal fourth quarter miss.

Despite a 58 percent rise in iPhone sales year-over-year, which beat the Street's expectations, iPad sales were seen as soft at over 14 million units. Analysts expect those numbers to pick up as consumers were assumedly as waiting for the new iPad mini to debut, shipments of which are thought to be much higher than anticipated. Apple itself announced that over three million iPad minis and fourth generation iPad models were sold over the devices' first weekend of sales.

As of Monday, AAPL's market capitalization is at $532 billion, down from the almost $660 billion high in September.

He is a good little wanker - attentive, alert, and responsive to attention. The board knows him well, yet he makes sure there's no doubt who is wanker-in-chief. Tech threads on a pussy forum are ideal for him, they allow him to share his immense knowledge of fruity things.

What's really funny is that I don't have to mention the wanker by name. His identity is clear to all and he even responds when summoned.

Still trying to sluff off how important a 15% drop in market share is?

Apple is now NOT the leader in innovation, they have moved into the catagory of followers. The "new" mini-pad is two year old technology in a smaller package, hardly innovation, or even keeping up with the competition.

It is simply a move to try to stop market share loss, and it will fail this coming holiday season, as there is nothing new in the package to entice buyers.

There is only so long brand loyalty holds, and as soon as the consumer understands they are being ripped off, and other alternatives are more viable, then Apple becomes the non-growing Rolls Royce of the tablet/phone market. It will be a good, well built package, for a high status price, but nothing new in development, as is starting to happen.
