I'll give you my take on this upfront charge.
I've been to DH about 4 times. Twice charged up front. Both times the mamasan was not there. Neither time did she acknowledge having remembered me.
Maybe the mamasan knows she can handle a non-paying customer but doesn't think the alternate receptionists can? Or maybe the alternate receptionists aren't as confident as the mamasan.
I thought it was quite funny the time when we were going through the book and she noted that "special love" was 1,500 baht. I didn't choose based on the book.
Three of the 4 girls were pretty good.

I never choose from the book - EVER! If they won't trot the girls out, I politely decline and say I will just go elsewhere - never been turned down after that. Once a few years ago at Angel, there were just too many girls on duty to trot them all out - so I picked 10 girls from the book - sent them all back and got 10 more and found one from the second group of 10... if you insist you can always pre-view the talent. I also never pre-book someone I've never been with based on the website photos.
What's funny is when the photoshopping is so bad that the girl is actually much better looking in the flesh!

The mamasan in this pace is a surly bitch. She asked me to pay 2k up front as some customers don't pay the girls after sex. I told her I have been in there more than 10 times and always pay. Last week I was also asked to pay up front.
I thought it was because I had asked for a Thai massage, rather than an oil massage,because the explanation I was given was that "the girl had to be sure I would take full service".
I objected that it was surely a matter solely between me and the girl as to whether I would elect to have full service,and I was not going to have the massage shop determine in advance what I would decide.
But the mamasan insisted I pay 2000 baht upfront.So I declined,and left.
I t seems Dream Heaven as adopted Angel`s Japanese business model.Unfortunate because they have some pretty girls.Nevertheless I wont return.

Further info on the upfront charge. The mamasan I was describing in my earlier post is not the only one there apparently. There's at least one ladyboy and another one that I've seen also. The one I spoke of the first time was quite nice ("special love"). The others I haven't particularly interacted with.
As to the upfront charge, I've kind of grown accustomed to it. I've found that some of the girls are quite pretty. And in general their service is quite good.
If you don't pay the upfront charge, you'll miss the body to body rub down. When going to other Oil Massage joints, that wasn't very common. Almost like at a soapy but with oil and not on an air mattress. Very nice. But not all the girls do it - maybe 75% do.
My feeling is, try the pay upfront thing once, even if you don't like it. If the service ends up not being worth it, don't come back. If you don't try it you might miss out on a goodie.
I didn't like it at first but now I am comfortable with it here.

I'm surprised by this. I go here often. I think the rooms (especially VIP downstairs) are very nice. They have a couple really nice looking girls. I have been asked to pay the "special charge" up front, and I just tell them I will pay the girl directly. They always say, "okay." Maybe it is because I usually make a reservation for the girls I like -not sure.
