Thanks for that illuminating post Gyaos. I was beginning to think that some people here thought that just because they were visiting a Japanese-oriented establishment, that they could pass themselves off as Japanese by not tipping or think that they were in Japan.
A lot of Japanese guys do tip here.

As for C's contention about theft, I don't agree, but I understand what he means. There are quite a few package tourists and some of the low-income ex-pats trying to get away with as little baht lay-out as possible. And I understand their position too.
Bangkok also gets a lot of guys in business, trade or industry, a minority of whom are mean mean buggers.
However I wouldn't like to think that the impression given here is that it is a fine and general rule not to tip at Akane.

And I think that is sensible. If you are pleased with her service, even if you don't cum twice or even once, you show your appreciation by giving a tip. And the amount is up to you. It has little red lanterns outside it and slatted blinds. Usually a girl is standing just on the doorway to assist older patrons like myself in opening the door.
Funny thing : They didn't believe me when I said that I was eighteen. Must have been the white walking stick that gave me away.

 If an establishment has been set up in Japanese style, the girls have been told not to request or expect tips, the price has been set with this in consideration, and the girls have chosen to work here with this knowledge, then why such bad press for not tipping ??? if you want to tip then tip, if you don't then don't, its not theft, you've received what you've paid for, tipping is always optional. Thats not Cheap Charlie, thats just common sense.

Been there too, it was a loss of time and money, here is copy of the full report.
Second bad experience is Akane massage in Soi 33 ( I tired before the Chit lom location and the experience was only so-so, but since so many peoples seem to like the place I decided to give the soi 33 location a try...well, this time it is how to loose almost 3000 bahts and 1 hour)
Walk in the place at 12h50 and get greeted by the mamasan, choose the V3 course (90mn, 2 ladies, 2480 bahts)
I choose two girls, one is real nice looking, tall with nice natural firm boobs, second one is plump but young and look to be fun. We go to the room, the decoration is rather nice but old. I receive a seated shower by the girls and notice they barely know what they are doing, so I play dumb and say I dont understand Thai just to see where all this would go. Well, it was not really a disaster but a clear example of a totally unproffesiuonal place. Back to the room the two girls dont know what to do and start a lame massage, one is allway gone (change clothe, go get oil, any excuse is ok) on the rare moment they are both there they are more busy chatting together than massaging me...). The Lotion massage is also lame, then when the time for the extra come the girls clearly dont know how to put a condom on, so after breaking two with their nails one tell to the other "dont worry, I dont want to suck him anyway" in Thai. They proceed to a lame HJ, take them a long time to make me come and when they finnaly manage to do it they instantly stop and instead of cleaning the mess (sperm+lots of lotion+saliva...) they place a damp towel on top of it and proceed to massage me again!
One is explaining to the other that the Farang-set are very Kiniao and not to worry about me being happy or not
Then they stop everything and just sit there talking to each other for 5mn as if I was no longer there, then they tell me its time to shower ( I look at the clock, havent been even 45mn with them yet!)
One do a quick shower to me while the other one is outside discussing about her hollidays in Phuket with another girl, then we go downstair and its time to pay...
I tell the mamasan that I havent stayed the full time, but she first pretend not to undertand and then tell me "you come allready, so time finished!Time to pay money now!" ( it is 2h03, exacttotal time in the place 1h13, massage alone was supposed to be 1h30)
When I leave I just tell to the two girls "Farang set Kiniao? Ok, No tip for you!"
If some of you fan of this place want my two "service cards" just send me a PM, I for sure wont ever be back in this scam-place.

It is puzzling as to how a place, the same place gets a rave review and then on the next post gets a thumbs down.
I put it down to different service providers ( girls ) who click or who do not click with the johns ( customers ).
So, in trying to assess if a place is good or not, I try to read all the posts or threads about it and take it all with a pinch of salt. In other words, I don't allow myself to believe a word of the good or the bad until I've made up my mind on the place. And the only thing that will enable me to do that, is if I go there myself.
Sorry that madfrog found a couple of out-of-character girls thee. That was his bad luck. When he goes next time to another place, hopefully, he'll have god luck and end up with the jewels in the crown.
As for Akane, I've tried and tested it and by now I think I know most of the ladies at the Soi 33 branch...and can say, that I don't get any better or even anything like it elsewhere. And that's why I go back there again and again. BUt then, by now, the ladies know that I go back there again and again. And that may influence their approach and attitude. I don't know. But what I get at Akane, is not easily got in many other places. And so I will be a returning customer......
