I hear you, clearly. Tulip is without question one of the best places in town for their concept.
That said; I think its important though to remember if punters who frequent the place start to raise the price for what is perceived as "above" normal service, then suddenly the "normal" service could easily be 2,000 and Thai's in general are also very good to quickly "forget" what even below standard service is.
Those who live here can probably agree with me on that, this relates to business in general.
As you said, its all about money for those girls, let's not forget that - ever, and if they can press for more when being continually spoiled, they will...

Well meatywsg says he had standard sex for just 10mins, no freaky kissing or anything else and paid 1500 +100 tip. Guess that's OK after all. It's the minimal both ways. Apparently she was cool, she gave him her card.

Lots of interesting, informative comments on this page, thanks fellow BMs. Like Mel, I assumed that most or all of the 600 I pay the cashier goes to the house, and that the 1500 I give to the lady stays with her. At least, I hope that is the case, because this is one of the reasons I prefer oilies to soapies, where all my money goes to the cashier, to be shared with the lady afterwards, I know not how.
I appreciate the sentiments about rewarding exceptional service with a tip of more than the expected 1500. However, anal sex is not high on my list of things to do, and a second shot within 90 minutes is not a realistic possibility at my age, tho I have been impressed by Tulip ladies' diligent efforts to make me young again. So I give them the standard 1500 for one shot, and hope they think of me as an easy customer, before one of you super-horny studs shows up again.

Thanks for all the good information shared on this thread. I come to bangkok twice a year and Tulip has been my favorite destination the last two years. Time and time again I have asked the girls and the answer I have gotten has always been the same. The 600 house charge I am not sure about, but the 1500 goes solely to the girl, with no commision for the house. I normally take two girls at a time, and pay the 1500 charge, without ever being asked for for more.With the ever so weakening dollar I hope you gentlemen do not raise the price. Otherwise I think, I have to sttle for one at a time.

Maybe it was not clear before:
Out of the Massage Fee of 400/600/800 (depending on how long you stay) the Massage place will usually give the girls a small cut (I believe 25% of that). At Tulips, the girls get 0.
However, whatever is negotiated and paid to her in the room for "extra" services is hers to keep, no commission to the house.

Lots of interesting points posted here. To me there is some confusion as to what the tip is for.
To some, the tip seems to be a payment for additional services such as anal or additional shots. To others, that its for exceptional service, to some as an incentive for next time, some, perhaps as a guilt payment because the service provider is relatively low paid, others a more boastful ‘I’ve got lots of money to throw around'. Each to your own, it is after all your money.
Personally, I have never been very comfortable with the concept of tipping because I am tight fisted. In many bar beers and go gos, I am becoming increasingly disillusioned with the changing attitude of serving staff who no longer seem content with a few coins as a tip (say 10 or 15 Baht). This was a trait that I first came across in my earliest visits to Bangkok, in some of the Patpong gogos. I find this “tip, tip, tip” attitude much more common than before. If I buy one drink in a bar which might cost, say 80 baht and I pay with a 100 baht note, often a 20 baht note, rather than 2 x 10 baht coins will now be placed on the plate as change. If I try to replace the 20 baht note with a 10 baht coin I am often subjected to howls of protest (Mr. Keenie Ow). If I have had several drinks, then I am happy to tip 20 Baht, but not for only 1 drink. I can brazen it out of course, but that doesn’t make for a happy holiday, perhaps best not to leave a tip at all in these places and retrieve all of my change!
Back on topic, I am somewhat surprised to learn that Tulip providers do not get a share from the massage fee. As a Bangkok massage newbie, I have never been to Tulip (only tried Angels, is Kristin back yet?). Does that mean if I opted for a massage only with no extras that the provider would get nothing from the session if I did not tip? In Patong Beach massage shops, I believe that 50% of the massage fee goes to the service provider. Maybe this is because the provision of extras in Patong is probably a lot less common (apart from Soi Kepsap) than in Bangkok.

When I go to Tulips, I know the girl gets nothing for the massage.
Sorry for the repeats, but apparently some guys just haven't got it yet.
When I go to Tulips, I ask for extras.
The girl indicates that she is willing to enter into this private transaction with me and usually quotes a price if I haven't met her before.
I agree to the price.
We go ahead (?) and indulge (!!!).
I shower.
I pay the agreed amount for the "extras'.
I leave.
I don't consider the amount for extras as a tip in any way.

It was an amount previously agreed upon ( or in some other cases, unspoken but taken as read ) that was personally charged to me by the lady in question for private services that she was prepared to provide for me and which Tulips do not provide.
Whether I choose to tip or not on top of the agreed or accepted or understood amount, is up to me and the only 'tip'.
I understand why some guys prefer not to tip.
I like to think that there are some guys around who can show their appreciation for a personal and physically intimate interaction between themselves and another human being that has been commercially negotiated, by giving just that little token of thanks, over and above the agreed or expected amount, to let the girl know how well she did and that she made you happy.
Persoanlly I think certain establishments, such as Tulips, should be nationally recognised and royally decorated for services rendered above and beyong the call of duty - something like the royal blue ceramc plaques that the Greater London Council used to fix to the walls of buildings, after a design by Adams, where famous people had once lived, so that every passer-by would instantly notice and stop to read the inscription written in white on it.
And instead of the uninteresting interior, they could have group photos of Tulip providers who have worked over the years. The class of 2008. The class of 2007 etc.
, so that customers who come back again and again,
( and Tulips has a very magnetic draw on all points) could spend a little while recovering from the visit by recollecting past providers.
