Well this leaves it wide open for the Thai nation to dream up sports that they can win, a little like USA did a few years back.

So what could they invent???

What a waste of tax baht. Poor country wants to spend multi-trillion baht when they have so many people in severe poverty.

Isee
Well the more serious question would be "What would the ramifications be if Thailand did win the bid". Whenever there is international focus on Thailand, there is the "clean up" of the p4p scene. There were certainly changes in Australia post-Olympic on certain issues.

Everyone still talks about pre-APEC days.....I can only suggest that will pale in comparison to pre-Olympic talk of "How things used to be"....

Also agree that while it is a "status" thing for a country to host an Olympic games, money could be better spent on infrastructure in the country - especially in the areas recently affected.

Thailand should just spend a lot of baht on international marketing to create its destination image. Has worked for other countries..... Would probably suggest this would have a greater effect on peoples perceptions than hosting an Olympic game.
