Hi All,

Im asking for some advice here.

Ive been offered a job by a thai company, I'm from the UK and applied for this job via email, phone calls followed further emails and now they have offered me this job.
I will be the international sales manager selling items that ive sold in europe for over 12 years. The job was initially advertised for a thai national so they say they cant offer me too high a salery as they dont have the budget for it.

They have however offered me 80,000 bht per month plus commision. My question is, can I live on that and still have a bit of fun and games as we all like to do. I'll still be getting a bit of cash from the uk from investments such like. But whats your comments on this, can I survive comfortably on 80k?

Can I get a decent apprtment for under 20k?

Cheers and pleae dont flame me

Not sure about you, but I could live okay on 80,000THB/mo. In fact, if you change your mind I'll take your job if requested.

You can live like a king on 80K per month and save money. Enjoy your time in BKK.

If you search this forum it can lead you to find the best apartment for your Baht. A lot of good info here. 80,000 is plenty plus commission, you should do fine.

I don't even need to go there... but I live off of like 40k a month on average myself.. but that is living my 'patented' "bob and weave/stick and move" style which balances cheap fun with reasonable splurging. My apartment is 5500k a month for example and I like eating on the street and stocking my fridge with grocerys from markets and tops/tesco... my lifestyle is not for everyone but it alows me to live in Thai for extended periods of time not working and not being 'rich' persay... I lived in LOS for 9 months last time, and I'm projecting up to a 2 year stay starting aug/sept 2005.. (fingers crossed)

It's like fanta says depends on your tastes, if you wanna have a really top quality appartment, eat out in very nice restaurants, drinking decent wine, have a nice car, etc - 80k won't go that far but if your tastes are slighlty more modest

Fanta4, are you living in BKK or other parts of the kingdom? I believe your money can go even further if one choose to live in Pattaya or ChiangMai.

If you live in Pattaya your money will go about 15 to 20% further. If you go to Udorn or Korat figure another 15% on top of the 20%.

On one trip to Pattaya for 30 days. I lived on 1K per day including hotel and live in girl friend. I had a good time and it is doable.

I wonder if that is comparable to the cost of living in ChiangMai/ChiangRai??
