Hi,
Last yr I was back in my home country (in Europe) and obtained a triple entry tourist visa from the TH embassy there.
This year im not planning to go back to Europe but would like to get a similair visa to avoid the monthly visa runs to Cambodia.
So I was wondering if it was possible to goto a TH embassy somewhere in the region here (Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia etc.) and get a visa from them.
It's just a thought, but maybe someone has experience with this, hope to get some useful feedback !

A lot of the 'ease' of it has to do with two things- what type of visa you are going for, and which consulate or embassy you are visiting.
The Thai consulate in Manila for instance is populated with derelict pricks that relish turning you away thwarted. They say Vientiane's is nearly as bad. Singapore's on the other hand is a model of courteous efficiency.
But the type of visa is also key.

i think thaivisa.com has the latest on that. They list all the pricks. I know laos and cambodja have done it but as I said you need to check beucase sometimes they just say STOP. But yes singapore is great did not cost me anything they just ask me for the photo and said it was free and come back next day.

A friend of mine who has just arrived in Thailand has managed to secure a very tasty job in less than three weeks. He's been advised to go to Penang for his multiple entry non-immigrant B Visa. It's meant to be very user-friendly.

Considering the cost and time to get a double (or triple), it is my opinion that the monthly runs are still better...
Penang is probably your best bet though, although I think that double TR are the best you can get there (provided you can't get proper documentation from a Thai company).

Just an update on Penang. If you're going for the non-immi B visa, they will require you to have a WP-3 which, I believe, is the form to prove that your employer has applied for work permit already.
KL, on the other hand, don't require you to have a WP-3.

I had no problems with Penang in the past (with existing WP= VERY easy - without, as previously posted need that form) and with Singapore. However, Singapore nowadays ONLY issues the Single entry Non Immi B (3 months) which leaves you with the hassle, converting it here in BKK to a 1-year one.

I was granted a tourist visa in Vientiane a few years ago without any problems, but the poor guy in front of me had his non-I B rejected because his letter was addressed to the Thai Embassy (instead of the ROYAL Thai Embassy).
Got my non-Im B in Singapore 2 years ago, as well as a pair of tourist visas prior to that.

I travelled all the way to Penang from Phuket by bus for my non-immigrant "B" visa and found that I had forgotten to get my WP3 form from my employer.
The guys that arranged my visa (an collection of Indian gentleman who reside in Georgetown where the bus stops) said they would try to pull a few strings for me.
I resigned myself to the fact that at least I could get a 2-month tourist visa and try again in 60 days but when I picked up my passport two days later, there was my nice new "B" visa.
Maybe I got lucky but I think it was a case of using the right person.
