Guys, my visa was a student visa...i am an exhange student here. It's not a tourist or a work permit or anything. It is a multi entry and yes drlove, I used my second entry 1 month ago.
So is there a possibility to an extention for it, without having any certification letter for it?and for how long? (what I want is 12 days). From you guys told me, I am definitely not going to risk overstaying...is the immigration office the only one that deals with this?
I guess I am going to do what ETC said...go there and ask. Nothing to lose!

I am a EU citizen, and I had a student visa.
You probably have a non-immigrant visa (I assume it is type “ED” for educational study or observation). You need to find out how to specifically extend this kind of visa. Keep in mind that not all non-immigrant visa types have the same extension rules. I would contact the Thailand immigration office for more information.

I don't believe that the EU issues passports (maybe I am wrong about this), but I a fairly sure that Thailand does not recognize it as a country for immigration purposes. Thailand has specific rules for citizens of each country as to whether they can enter without a visa (“visa upon arrival”), and for how long. The typical period for Western European nations is 30 days, but it can vary by country. Citizens of the Czech Republic (admitted to EU in 2004) only get 15 days (unless this was changed very recently).

As you already know, a “visa upon arrival” would require you to leave Thailand and re-renter. Make sure you have at least 10,000 baht in cash with you just in case they are enforcing the new rules on visa runs (they want to make sure you have means to support yourself).

Now I am getting a little confused....

You used your second entry a month ago. That means not earlier than 1 october, is it?

With 90 days it will last until December 31 at least.....way before your departure date.

If it expires on December 8 (?) then it's very plausible that you can get an extension for 30 days.

Easy way.... overstay (2,400 baht)
more difficult.... go Suan Phlu and get an extension.

Dr Love I initially got my student visa back home. I got here Septemeber 9th, and the expiry date at the stamp stated as last date of my departure December 8th.
LATER, during my stay here, decided to make a couple of trips abroad so I went to the immigration and had a multiple entry visa (the initial one was a single entry). Again however, the last date for departure was december 8th. I left for Campodia came back, left for Vietnam, came back. In all of the new stamps, last date for my departure remained December 8th. (i guess that's what confused you)
Alan, of course EU doesnt, it just that people from EU have more or less the same limitations. I have been here before as a tourist, and could stay in the country for 28 days without a visa.

As I explained, not all countries in the EU are granted the same length of stay in Thailand for a visa upon arrival. Usually, you can stay for 15 or 30 days depending on the country of your passport.

so I went to the immigration and had a multiple entry visa

No wonder I was confused... you're using the wrong term.... you didn't get a multiple entry visa, but a re-entry visa.

And that's correct.. your departure date stays the same.

Then I guess you entered the Thailand before November 8 again.

It maybe was better if you left the country and applied for a new (tourist visa) then you would have had 60 days again without any additional costs (except for the visa application in Cambodia or Vietnam).

Even when considering the fees you've paid for re-entry visas.

Well guys, here I am again!!

so, updating: went to immigration, but there is no way I can extend my visa without a good reason. So I managed to make my university abroad to justify my stay here, and there might, might be a chance of getting a letter which will be good enough to get me the extention. However, the letter will be ready only on the 7th or 8th of December and my visa expires on the 8th!!So, questions:
1) Will it be ok if I go to the immigration office 1 day before the expiration, or even the day it expires, to get the extention?
2) How long does it take to get the extention?Meaning, how long will they have to keep my passport for this reason?
3) Can you get it at the same time to be a re-entry visa?I was just wondering if I could take a last trip to Vietnam.
That's it....thank you all in advance!!

1) When I used to extend my tourist visa I did it on the last possible day, otherwise you just lose days.
2) I only did it a couple of times, one was 15 minutes (after I knew what to do) and the first time was 40 minutes (and most of that was waiting for a photocopy and just finding out what to do).
3) No idea I'm afraid.

1 - Indeed, no problem. Last day is ideal....
2 - Weekdays it takes around 30-60 minutes. Saturday morning about 20-30 minutes.
You probably don't even need the letter to get an extension.
3 - I don't think so.... the visa is already expired. But why should you apply for a re-entry? If you go to Vietnam within the time of your extension, you get automatically 30 days (depending on your nationality) again upon entry.

Thanks guys about the first two questions, it was pretty clear.
DrLove, about the third one, I dont think I can...i mean, when I initially took my student visa back home, it was a simple entry one...which means I had to go to the immigration and apply for a re-entry visa, which allowed me to travel abroad for a couple of times. Now, with the extension will I be allowed to travel out of Thailand and get back in without a problem?
