I agree, that's a silly one, that's about 15 minutes and 1 transfer by skytrain. ÝPlus Siam station is a great place to see lots of "real" Thai people and do some discreet ogling.

I should have been more insistant 'cos I knew what the traffic would be like in early evening. The result was that we were late and still had to walk at the other end of the journey. We had to ditch the cab and walk anyway.

I always used the Skytrain whenever it was open, until about midnight. But the worst traffic is in the morning, starting about 8:30 am and then again from four or five in the afternoon until about 8:00 pm. Or anytime it rains. Or on weekends near the shopping areas. Or at other times for no particular reason.

the next worst thing about taking a taxi during traffic hours is when he takes you to the wrong hotel. nowadays, i stick to the skytrain. super easy to understand compared to taking trains/subways in japan (or even new york for that matter).

They converted the old Big Boy into a pool bar (with funky glow in the dark balls and black lights), this is between Sois 11 and 13, although it may be a little earlier. ÝThis is on the left hand side of Sukhumvit as you walk from NEP to Cowboy. Ý
Also, when I am in town (less than three weeks!) I'm always up for a game.
Here's great map of the Sukhumvit area while trying to verify the streets. ÝIt shows most of the spots the brothers talk about along Sukhumvit. ÝOne glaring exception is Baron's which is pretty much right next door to 24 Inn.

I sometimes use the bar on soi 7 for a game of pool. Its quite a large bar on right hand side, just a few yards from Sukhumvit Rd and more or less oppposite the famous Beer Garden.
