Its alright doc I know exactly what you both mean its just light hearted humor from my part. I only ever get a visa excempt but what lots of people call VOA. Actually my ex thai wife always got one too in her thai pasport. Im just in awe of people who can travel for 2 months but I know you get that from an embassy in your country. I also know the trips on 30 day visa to.renew has been stopped which is logical. I had one question 'what happens when I cross the border on my 30 day visa which has already been answered. I was once there exactly 30.days so almost over otherwise this is enough for me. But travelling around s.e asia either now or in the future I realise is more complicated, but as I expected.

Traveling around isn't more complicated if you are a real tourist. The complications only come into play when you cross the border out of Thailand, then turn around and come right back into Thailand that same day, or the next day without a multi-entry visa, and your passport shows you've done this before. Immigration is no longer stupid. If you should have a different visa for what you are doing, like trying to stay long term, then they are going to force you to get it, or force you to leave Thailand. It is that simple. CC, there is one point in keeping your son's Thai passport renewed, and specifically his Thai ID card renewed. I assume he has one. By being his guardian, and I think until he turns 26, you qualify for a type O visa as his legal guardian. With his birth certificate showing you as the father, his ID card, an address in Thailand, bt400,000 in the bank, or equivalent monthly wages, and your passport (copies of all these), you can get a 90 day type O visa (that you could extend once you are in Thailand to one year, with the rest of the documentation). The consulate in Portland Oregon is the easiest to get this visa at, by mail.

Kb thanks but we are getting off track here. Maybe complicated is the wrong word lets just say to cross over borders needs more planning. A maximum 30 day visit inside the kingdom is fairly simple. Once I start crossing over borders it needs a bit more thought. Fly back for extra 30 days or are 15 enough over land. Certainly another multiple entry visa is not needed in my case. But it needs to be eliminated as I intend to travel in 6 months. I already decided we have enough to do inside the kingdom. My son is also at college so on limited break apart from my own commitments. So 3 or 4 weeks is plenty for us. He is half thai with very white skin as his mother is Thai chinese. Born in the police hospital in Bangkok he lived for 6 months after born and visited Thailand often up to 11years old. So it will be interesting for him apart from uncles and sisters to see Thailand as a man. Actually he has Dutch, Thai and British nationality. No ID card just his baby passport that was registered at the airport when we left. His mother took all the original documents during the divorce I just have copy''s. He is 18 in may he can choose what he want. But dont they have to choose at 21 ? As for me if I needed I could get a retirement visa. But interesting 26 !! thanks for info. But this is just for me 1 st return in 7 years and 3 to 4 weeks is enough. Looking forward to seeing old haunts and gaining new ones. I love cooking also thai food so I hope there are still some street carts around. Need to brush up on my thai also. Looking forward to see my sons reaction to things as a man. I will not be indoctrinating him into the p4p world either and he is not interested. We talk about it as we have that here. He like blonds anyway so totally different taste to the old man.
