This is an old thread on Admiral Suites Serviced Apartments Sukhumvit Soi 22 so I thought I would update this rather then start a new one.

First post - I thought I would start contributing here. I have been traveling to Thailand from 2 -3 times per year (business) for the last 10 years. Unfortunately, last year I was in Afghanistan - so was not able to get my trips in to Thailand. Hopefully, I will be back soon.

Normally when I am working in Bangkok for a month or longer I will stay at Admiral Suites. This serviced apartment has a rooftop pool, gym (adequate), coffee shop, Japanese restaurant and a Family Mart nearby.

The Admiral Suites can be found on Sukhumvit Soi 22 about 70 meters past the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel on the opposite side of the road. The rooms have a kitchenette with everything needed to cook meals - with full refrigerator, electronic safe (large sized), small dining room table, desk, flat screen TV. The rooms are big enough (40sm) so they do not feel cluttered and are tastefully decorated although a bit dated. I would recommend getting a room that faces the parking lot since soi 22 may get a bit loud with all the traffic.

On Agoda.com the Superior Studio rents for 1,358B, Superior Studio with breakfast for 1,528 (don’t bother the breakfast is limited) ; the Deluxe Studio rents for 1698B. I would suggest renting the Deluxe Studio room, which is big enough to have a separate area has a living room with full sized couch.

The Admiral is about a 10 minute walk to Sukhumvit - a walk I would enjoy. There is much to see and do on Soi 22 - from Washington Square to Queens Park Plaza either location a good place for cheap beer and some nice restaurants (Larry‘s Dive is pretty good). You can also find Titanium, a trendy music bar on the first floor and a voBKa bar on the second floor on Soi 22. I enjoyed going into the deep-freeze ice bar to do voBKa shots. The Titanium band is also pretty good.

During the day when I did not feel like making the walk to Suk - I would cut through the Imperial Queen’s Park hotel and go out the back - then walk through the park to go to either the Phrom Phong BTS or the Emporium Mall.

Most importantly Admiral Suites is Guest Friendly. Overall I have always enjoyed staying at Admiral Suites. The location, rooms, amenities, friendly staff, nice maids, and the interesting nightlife found on Soi 22 has always sold me on staying here. I think Admiral Suites is very good "value for money" place to stay with a good location which provides much to do and see nearby.

Thanks for your excellent report Ragnar2,

AS seems to be real value for money for a midterm stay and your report tells about the options the locatins gives to a seasoned BK traveller...

The only con would be that the whole place and furnishing is slightly wearing... There are some other options wich are a bit more stylish... if that counts for you...

Mickthekick you are right the Admiral is a bit dated - the owners need to update the rooms (assuming they have not already done that - I have not been there in a while). Over the last few years there are many new "Boutique" hotels in the Sukhumvit area that look very good. I am looking forward to checking some of them out on my next trip there. On shorter trips I like to stay in different hotels/serviced apartments and check out different parts of Sukhumvit (almost ever soi off of Sukhumvit has something interesting to offer).

But on longer stays I would still stay at the Admiral. The Admiral does offer monthly rates which make staying month+ even better. I really enjoy all the amenities, kitchen, full refrigerator, swimming pool, gym and laundry room (well….really don’t use the laundry room). From what I have seen many of those "Boutique" hotels do not have all those amenities. I also have to admit to feeling nostalgic about the Admiral. I have spent a lot of time there over the years – and have some very good memories of the place… good times.

Ah the good old admiral suites! I spent about 2 years of my life here, apart from the security guard grassing you up to your regular GIK when you have taken some one else the previous night I don't have a bad word to say. They finally sorted out a decent internet connection!

I normally end up swimming naked in the pool late at night with my catch for the night and the security guard just pop's his head outside and waves hello!

From anyone that can remember my many posts and FR from a few years ago will know how much I love Soi22, its a cracking soi with a real mix of things to do

Re the rooms I staid mainly in the Executive 1 bed room, but have tried all of them and I do think they are good value for money. The in house DVD movie service does suck though, I cant remember how many times I had to ring them and tell them to change discs! but is TIT after all

Even as a regular stayer I could never get a reasonable discount from them direct, the trick is to go above them and contact http://www.compasshospitality.com/ direct they give a bit more than even trying the manager.

Happy times!
