Thanks CG a great post! The last time Oldtimer was in Manila was over 30 years ago, but it doesn't sound like the lassies have changed too much since then. You summarise the filipina's life strategy, and how they differ from TG's very well.
The vast majority of PI girls have one main ambition in life - to get the hell away from the Philippines, and one good method to achieve this is to marry a Westerner - hence their clingy nature. A contact with a half decent Euro/Brit/American guy is a potential ticket out of poverty.
Most TG's ambition is to stay in Thailand with husband / partner. The family ties are very strong. Of course if the guy reads the "Thai Fever" book, he is likely to run a mile, or not get too seriously involved if at all possible…!
This is my understanding anyway - others may think differently.

I'll agree about LA Cafe. Also try the Executive Plaza for good acom' as mentioned by CG earlier, a good choice IMHO.
LA Cafe is bloody heavin' after 20:00 on the weekend and it's hard to get a drink let alone a game o' pool!
