Never been to China (so why the f*ck am I posting here?), but, given all my chinese "friends" made in Dubai, have any number of offers that I should visit them when they go home. So one would think that "something" is possible.

Got to agree with HS. My experience of the nightlife in China so far is that it sucks. I was here 10 years ago and not much has changed. There is still this obsession with KTV. There are a few acceptable bars and nightclubs in Shanghai, Beijing, etc and you do get the odd stunner (who is going to be expensive). But generally they are an ugly, boring people and fun isn't on the agenda. As HS said you need to get out on a regular basis or you will go nuts.
Having said that a fellow member is going to show me the delights of Shekou in a couple of weeks so I'll see what that's like. Might save me the monthly trips to HK (although then I would miss the Thai girls in JB's and the flippers in Fenwicks. Now you're talking!).
4 days in BKK at the end of the month will keep me going for a bit as well.

HEy all, I am not in ShangHai and likely wont be anytime soon. I was told about this China Mikes bar by a guy who claims to be the owner. In a seperate and unrelated scenario he is offering me a job elsewhere in China. Some of the job related details are hard to get independant confirmation of. I am interested in this bar simply as an honesty check of this individual. If he bullshits me about something as simple as owning a bar...what else is he bullshitting me about?
So is it the consensus of you folks familiar with ShangHai that there is NO bar called China Mikes on Koo-Pow road across from the largest bar in ShangHai...an Irish bar definitely called Finnegans in the old Shanghai side of the river?
SOunds like that is what you are all saying...that is a bummer.

Next time you see the guy casually ask him for a business card for the bar. If he is an owner, marketing and backslapping should always be on his mind. If he has no card, that is a bad sign. Doubt he made a ficticious card for a non existent bar either if he does have one.

Funny that I do not have to 'work at it' for my opportunities in Shanghai, and like GuangZhou there are plenty of English speaking ladies available, I think it depends on attitude...
I've found the chinese ladies in dubai excellent; excellent service, excellent value for money, fun. Certainly prefer chinese takeaway than CIS. At least one I know (yea, 1 out of 5 billion) stayed back in china, not returning to dxb, as, though she made less money in china, less hassle than here.
So my point was, I'd THINK there might be some fun to have there, although what LE does to "dampen" that is unknown to me. But certainly judging by the chinese threads on wsg, along with photo gallery, some out of the billions must be "service oriented".
(Which is certainly OFF the topic of what you started, but like a lot of posters, I just drift along with the path of the thread. Sorry if it got waylaid.)
