Believe me Joe, the girls don't need to be able to say anything to show you what is on offer and at what price.
One of my little tricks which amuses me is to pretend to the girls I am deaf and dumb.. obviously this can only be tried once in a new bar...
so for at least a hour I communicate my requirements using sign language and likewise the girls do the same back..
No words are spoken but believe me I am in doubt what is on offer by the girls and what it will cost..
Mind you, you should see their faces when I speak or feel their slap LOL

Anyway, even if one doesn't want to do these things in GoGo's or bars, that doesn't mean they automatically want the music 1 billion decibels.
But, for all the reasons mentioned in posts above, many Thais do.
In my nerd life, I usually go into bars with at least one friend... If it's too loud we leave, because sometimes we like to talk a bit while we enjoy the women. But if the women are foxy enough and kind, we are not talking so much, and the music level may not even be noticed so much.

Yes, what sacrifices we make.
The trick is to spend as little time in each bar as possible.
Reconnoitre the bars from visit to visit, making a mental note as to the number of potentially lucky girls whom you would want to bar-fine.
Second visit.......... hit the bar - bar-fine - and run.
She can always do some dancing in the buff in your room later, if you feel you've lost out a bit on the visual delights during your brief visit.
However, I'd imagine that a lot of you guys might also be thinking from the reverse angle in as much as the girls themselves who work in these places have to endure working 7 or 8 hours every day in such high-decibel noise levels. They have no opportunity to leave unless bar-fined or take a break between dance sets to get some food.
Some bars don't allow the girls to go out even for a minute, unless they are bar-fined.
Personally, I like many forms of music, both modern and classical, but I don't have to have the volume turned up to ear-drum damage levels to enjoy it.
It's good to know that a lot of the bars that put on shows, choose to play softer,, generally quieter music and the girls performing the shows seem to respond very well to the lower levels of noise and change of mood and become far more relaxed and sensual in their movements, making it a thousand times more erotic.

As for Toxic, I can't believe that the guys who go there even remember the amount of noise levels in it, let alone the amount of alcohol they consume.
During my visits to Toxic, I've been so mesmerised by the beauties in there that they could have been playing 'God Save The Queen' or the Thai National Anthem, and I wouldn't have registered it. A very relaxing bar. One of the few that enables you to converse with a beauty eye to eye as opposed to mouth to ear.
I realise that the mouth to ear mode might hold an attraction or two to those of us who suffer from a slip of the tongue now and again, but that can happen anywhere.

Thai DJ's are in their own world. I once rented a party river boat. It was a bunch of friends and we paid for the whole boat and crew with DJ. We asked the DJ to change the music to some of our liking. The situation evelated to the point where he lock himself in the DJ booth and would only play his music selections at full volume. Unbelievable! The rest of the Thai crew seemed unable to help and he stayed locked in the DJ booth until 6:00 AM.
