Went to Nana the other night and wandered
in to Rainbow 2, back right corner 1st floor
Tuesday night dead as a doornail.
4 dancers on stage none doing more than moving their knees.
Ordered water with ice and was told it is 145B
So I switched to "nam som" = orange juice; same price.
She comes back with the drink.
I sip and something is wrong.
Its Orange soda.
Call the waitress over and explain.
She calls mamasan.
"Nam som, may mii"
In Thai I say why did you not tell me first ?

Those bars dont give shit about customers being happy or not, not "at the moment" but "since years and years"

Yeah, bkk fella, this kind of behavior is not unusual.
I order water, sometimes I get soda. I order orange, they bring soda. It's always "mai bpen rai". I solve it easy - either avoid that bar, or at return visits always only order one bottled water and buy the mamasan no drinks (I usually am generous with drinks if I like the bar and they don't rip me off).
They "get it" after a while.

As I keep saying, Rainbow bars are boring and they need to make their girls go topless and, preferably, nude. There are far too many of them on the non-topless stage, in the same old bikinis, dancing to the same songs. It's old, old, old, especially when all the other bars are topless or nude. I don't understand why the management don't tell the girls topless or else - because where else are those girls going to go? Everywhere else is showing. They're just being lazy.

Well, that's the thing. I think they're still attracting customers on memory, on reputation. There's a drag effect where customers still go to a bar long after the prettiest girls have gone because they're still expecting it to be good, somehow, because of past glories. But (hopefully) they can't go on forever like that. Customers, even the Japanese, eventually realise that the girls there are nothing special, they see more in other bars nearby, etc, etc.
I don't think they're even as packed anymore either. Even that's an assumption based on past glories.
