Quite a few of these "upscale" bars actually have a "uniform" schedule. One night all the girls are required to wear a black dress with pearls. The next night a white dress. The next night something different with the bar logo on it, etc., etc., etc. In otherwords, they are wearing unifroms, so to speak, as required by their employer. Some of the bars supply the dresses. Some of the bars supply the dressess, but make the girl pay for them, and so on, and so on, and so on...

what you guys wrote sounds actually pretty good and there seems to be an easier atmosphere then say SC or NEP.
I have always gone to Nep and Patpong mainly for a night out and lately went just there for drinks and the view, not to take out girls or so.
I like more the girls which have a little touch of class or at least seem to.
I guess I just got tired a little of the gogo type place where I go and get drunk and then go home, don't get me wrong it's still fun to go there with friends and get drunk together and so, it's just when you have been there a lot I guess you are somehow not so interested anymore because from one to the other it varies not so much.
Of course the girls are different and sometimes not so different in each gogo bar and that depends also if the girls are the priority for one to be there or if you just like to go for a drink or two.
I always preffered to go to places to have a drink where there are also girls which are friendly and nice then just sit in a bar with nothing to offer but drinks. So I think the bars on 33 seem to be a great alternative.

I think you have hit it on the nail. A proportion of 33 regulars are resident in Bangkok and are, to be honest, bored to death with Nana, Patpong and Cowboy.
At a bar on 33 I can have a drink, talk to my mates, talk to a girl or just watch.

I spend some time in 33 when I am in town. I get a bit fed up with the "meat market" in the other areas (not that 33 is above reproach). I agree with a lot of comments here, both the positive and the negative ones!
CHRISTIES STINKS!!
I was seriously ripped off there for a bill a year ago. Even the mama-san charged me for her drink because I she came over and started chatting with me. I spilt a beer and was charged for it. I drank one beer, and was charged for five!!
I will never go back to Christies!!

Christie's has not been much fun since it reopened a year or more ago after its refurbishment. The girls are ugly and you get ripped in my very humble opinion.
I did spend a cracking night there at the turn of the Millennium with a couple of young ladies, Koi and Noi I think it was. Everything was expensive but it was at least honest. I do not mind paying whatever it takes but it must be honest.
I visited again a few months ago and was assailed to buy drinks for all sorts of dubious females who I neither fancied or found particularly entertaining and I had to question the bill at the end. Definitely on my no no list.
The other place where I have quite frankly overspent was Napoleons. This was after the Mamasan had moved from Christie's to there a few yearts ago. I visited one evening and was politely assailed by four dazzling beauties who assisted my billiards for a few hours. Once again incredibly expensive but correctly accounted for.
I also used to frequent Chelsea bar before it was replaced by The Cave. A cheap watering hole with a friendly owner and a regular clientele. Shame it went under.
The Office continues to amuse but it may have had its day. the last time I was in the customers outnumbered the girls and the are a bit standoffish as well.
All in all, it can be bloody expensive but it is more salubrious than go go and beer bars.

Speaking of The Cave, it reopened last night... if anyone is interested. I preferred Chelsea, but what the heck.
Have now tried Oliver Reed's a couple times... nice infrastructure, but only about 8 girls until (if?) business picks up. Roomy place, with a "don't hit on the customers" policy... but couldn't see that it offers anything more/different than a dozen other places on the 33 strip.
