Yes, as noted by other posters, a purely tourist scene tends to breed a different attitude among the women who work in the bars, because they don't expect to see the same guy more than once. At least that might be one explanation for the decline I and others have observed over the years on Patpong.

Thanks for the perspective, Charmonman ; by that yardstick I wonder how you would rate QC-II. This is the bar on the right side of PP as you go in from Silom side. QC-I and III are long gone. This place is again full of tourists but from what I have seen everytime I go there several regulars keep coming back to the delight of the girls. Everytime I go there I have been treated to some fantastic fare by 2-3 girls who give their all to making me feel like the eponymous King. I guess, despite the floating tourist clientele, what the girls really love to see is an old face returning every once in a while. I must confess that it is doubly satisfying then to have my favourite girls treating me as a favourite customer in the midst of all that crowd.

I have been over at silom recently doing some stuff. so I decided to take my first look at patpong. I was in a few of the king group bars. not too many lookers, just a couple each. but ladies drinks, (colas) were just 100B, with beer 140 for the girls.
when I paid, I got my change including 5 10 B coins. I scooped up all but 2. the server, a guy, gave me a face and said 20B???
I said, oh not happy with that, maybe you like this better--and scooped up the other 2.
the look on his face was hilarious 555

Bummer me ? I just am beginning to wonder if I am also being given "special" prices at QC. Baht 150 for my drink and Baht 200 for each lady drink. Is this what others pay too ?

The well-known Queen’s Castle bars on Patpong have all disappeared. Two (QC1 and QC3) had closed long back but I thought QC2 was still operative.
Last night, after some walks up and down the congested soi I realized that QC2 is now called Night Bar. The same old stairway leading up but inside it was all empty on this night though a few girls were staging some insipid acts to no one. The place is now a total rip-off. The guy outside told me a drink was priced at 100 baht. I bought one for a girl as well and she said the LD is 150. There were now drinks on my table but no bill. I asked for it, as my suspicions were rising, and after several reminders I got the bill – 300 baht for each drink and 800 baht for “show,” totalling 1400 baht !
After my protest the cashier struck off the show fee. I insisted that I was being overcharged for the drink. The girl told them I was an old customer. Finally they agreed to charge 150 for each drink provided I paid immediately. I did not understand this logic but paid up -- 300 baht for two drinks (unfinished) and 100 for the girl (she had been about 10 minutes into a HJ on me) and left. Avoid this bar. It’s no more under the old management and they fleece big time.

We were in Patpong at almost exactly the same time. I hadn't been there in at least 4 years. We also were looking for the QCs, and saw the non-lit sign, but we never found the stairway to go up. Lucky us.
Eventually we went to Bada Bing. 140bt for a diet coke with girls of a quality lower than the Soi Cowboy bars I have been to this trip. Air con, though, worked perfectly. And the bill wasn't "padded" (at least, not more than typical).
Unless you want to "experience" the night market and/or a specialty bar like SOL there's not a lot of reason to come to Patpong. Just hold onto your wallet.

was at BP recently. opens late. they converted the pool hall into a chillroom/poolbar with 4 decent rooms. 2000 all in.
some interesting, very friendly girls there.
I fell in love with the short haired hostess.
also I think you can negotiate something in the upstairs lounge, good decor and house music by dj junior.
