magnum, I have been here a few years, I don't hang around lower Suk and I do see how Thais live.
Of course there are Thais, not just people from Isaan, who have lower IQs, but I also know and have worked with a number of Isaan people who are highly intelligent.
Problem is a lot of people hang around the lower levels of society and form the impression that all of society is like that.
I am sure if I hang around Shitsville town in the deep south of America, there will be a large percentage of 'intellectually challenged' folk, and lots of incidents of incest etc. I know there are in council estates in the UK also. To apply that stigma to the whole population is wrong.
And thailife, nice try at attempting to deflect from your initial racist comment with the posting of over the top comments later. You can now claim you were being a WUM for the shits and giggles. 
This kind of reminds me of a guy I knew years ago. Here on an expired visa, working without a work permit, didn't pay a penny in tax, spent most nights getting drunk on Cowboy and spoke barely any Thai despite living here for around a decade. He was a huge bigot and did nothing but deride the Thai population despite only interacting with bargirls and motorbike taxi drivers.
His favourtite rant was how the illegal immigrants were ruining the UK by working illegally, never paying taxes etc. He just couldn't see the irony in what he was saying.

the beergarden still seems to be in decline, especially in the number and variety of BGs visiting.
for over a year the average ratio of guys to ladies seems to be about 2:1
I used to be able to find a nice girl in about an hour or less with the constant turnover of new arrivals, but I more frequently find myself leaving alone after 60-90 minutes there.

On some nights it seems the ratio is correct, but the other way around.
Seen many familiar faces from the Beer Garden now taking up walking duties on Sukhumvit.
Actually, Beer Garden isn't that popular anymore with a lot of the girls because the guys hanging around are the same faces every night.

Do you think this is a permenant condition ?
If so, why do you suppose this has happened ?
Perhaps it is temporary due to low tourist traffic from the flood year and subsequent fewer tourist reality.
