I've got nothing against the celebration of the Songkran Thai New Year although, regretfully I don't know any water goddesses intimately. If I want to soak other people with water, I go to the places where this happens during the daylight hours. If I don't want to participate, I don't venture out to those places. I thought it was as simple as that until this week when I saw customers, girls and the bar being drenched up on the third floor of Nana. Now, I found it hard to tell if it was a management-inspired activity or not. I don't think it was, but I could be wrong. But there is a time and a place for everything and when I go out in the evening for a drink and a necessary indulgence with an agreeable lady, I don't want to have to handle a situation that should be left outside at the proper time of day. There was a notice on the door which said 'No water-throwing after 6 p.m.' It was in English, so illiteracy was no excuse. If there is an event of spraying ladies with water, I may choose to go to it or I may not. If I believed in a water goddess, I would pray to her to save me from idiots who don't give me that choice.
