And you are Indian? Real Indian, from proper India? Coz I found far more instances of rickshaw drivers wanting me to see 'just one shop' in that beautiful country than I ever did in Thailand (in both cases, I always refuse).

Ye, yes and yes. I am a real Indian from India. Whatever I was discussing does happen in quiet a few places in India too (and several other parts of the world). But we are here discussing about LOS.
I do spend a lot of money whereever I go, but unfortunately I am too polite to refuse, like you do. So, yes, I did spend some money in my initail trips to LOS on gold, but subsequently I am avoiding those situations wherein I am shelling out money for being polite.
