I spoke to a friend today, who works, in a supervisory capacity.
And confirmed today, that the directors,at a meeting in July,decided that anyone who booked a double should not have to pay a joiner fee.
I ask again to confirm and apparently its true.
I guess this could have something to do the place being
on the empty side, there is also a promotion on at the moment, but did not get the price.

Many years ago it was OK if you booked a tower suite. It has been a dump for quite a few years and to pay a joiner fee is a joke. I would not stay here for free and certainly would not pay extra for a guest. I stopped quite a few years ago staying here but have kept up on what is going on and would not stay again. Its a great location but a shit hotel.

I stayed there several times 6 years ago.
No joiner fee if you booked a double..... same price as single.
It was run down but to me not as bad as everyone is saying.
It was clean, good air, good tv, good location.
Maybe 4-5 star is the normal expectation now ?
The place I hated was The Park Hotel on Soi 7.
Now that was a dump with God awful service and a terrible breakfast.
I could not wait to get out of there.

Hello everyone and gratz for this awesome forum.
In 2 days I go my first trip to LOS, 15 days in Koh Samui – Phangan – Tao and 3 nights in Bangkok.
I have booked for 3 nights a double room in Ambassador Hotel (I will be one person). Horrified, after my reservation, I have came through the latest reviews about this jotel and its joiners fee policy etc. I had a great disappointment as I have already paid the full amount cause it was a pay in front promotion through agoda – though quite a bargain I think, 4,8k baht for 3 nights including breakfast and late check out. Therefore no option for cancelation, as it was said in the promotion.
So my last thought was, wtf, If I couldn’t pass my TGs as my girlfriend staying with me, I ll pay the 650 baht (based on forum reviews) each day, or the worst scenario if everything was awful I will forget my prepaid 110 euros and look for another hotel (not the happiest option for me..).
And then, this morning I had a reply for the reservation desk of Ambassador Hotel, which makes me smile after all this reviews I have red last days. The reply says exactly: “We are pleased to inform that our hotel do not charge for joiner. Please bring her to Reception counter for register for security reasons”.
And that’s all. So..is this hotel changing its policy each year? I will keep the email so I think no more problems with the joiners’ fee for me there.
I will update after my visit.
