From my experiences there are only 2 kinds of rooms, the suites, and the standard rooms.
Standard rooms are bt980 - bt1200 depending on the website, and the suites at bt3000+
Book a double because they do check.

I may give the Manhattan a try when I am in BKK in september. But I have some questions. Perhaps someone can help:
What about the construction site nearby? Is it recommendable to ask for a room at the opposite side so that there is not so much noise?
The other thing is wether it is recommendable to just walk in and book or try to book in advance via internet. What is cheaper? In some hotels, internet rates are better. What is the best way for Manhattan?

Yes, construction noise can be annoying, ask for a room on the soi side of the hotel.
It is much cheaper to book on the internet. The manhatton is a very popular hotel, and very often full.
Their web page lists there dicount rate at bt1600, alot more than the bt980 I booked for this October.

Book in advance. Go to passionasia or precision reservations for the best rates. No construction on side facing soi cowboy in April 2005. Don't book directly through the hotel or show up and book. Get the cheapest double occupancy room and ask for high floor. Breakfast should be included in the rate.
