1. The Dusit Thani is also right in front of a BTS station, and as far as being out of the center of the 'city' it is about 500 m from Patpong.
HOWEVER it is one of the two MOST guest unfriendly hotels in town. Never even think about bringing a BG there.
2. The short time hotels are where to take BGs. This is especially true for first times. If the girl is a freelancer/streetwalker, EVEN MORE IMPORTANT not to take her to your room/apt because that's how the infamous mickey-finn druggings take place. IMHO guys are crazy to be messing with such girls, but, if you must, go to a ST hotel. This avoids all the hassles about security, registration, extra money for joining, etc.
I am not talking about classier freelancers from upscale clubs, although, classy appearance is not an ironclad guarantee of safety.
If the BG does not know where you are staying, she can't come knock on your door. This you avoid problems with wives, other TGs (you high speed helicopter you), etc.
Finally, do what I say, not what I do.

I agree!! If they do not know your hotel then they can not find out. But, I've had the problem in the past, where I've been seen at some establishments or areas and low and behold I get a phone call on the hotel phone saying "I know you are here can I see you." Since I usually only stay at two hotels!! ha ha ha!!

Thanks for your input!! I will leave it up to my friend. It's his ass on the line. If I need to take a female back and can not get them into my hotel, then I might have to go to a ST hotel. No problems for me.
And I need to clarify. When I mean center of the City, I meant closer to the Sukhumvit Road, that's all.

Sounds like you've been there many times, so I am sure you can find a good hotel on Sukhumvit.
I'm flying over to Thailand fairly soon myself. I am going to have a "kick ass" time too.

I think your friends wife wants to know what you guys are up to in BKK. I am sure you make frequent trips there. That is why she is tagging along. She is on a fact finding mission. I would suggest a family oriented hotel with a no guest policy. This way you can be on your best behavior. I suggest making trips to the museums and other cultural places. A similar thing happened to me in Montreal and we had no fun with my friends wife tagging along. Saw a lot of museums though.
Next time she may just stop by unannounced !!!

ABC, if budget is no object, try The Shangrila, which is by the river, plus it is also next to the last BTS station (Thaksin station) on the Silom line, so getting around would be convenient as well. Fits the bill for you.

I think you guys are going to need much more than a "family hotel" You are going to need to find a list of non girly places to go as well. And what about places that you will be asked to take her to show her what you have been getting up to?
When I was married my wife suddenly decided to come with me to Hong Kong. Was that stressful. Couldn't go to usual hotel, couldn't go to usual bars etc. etc.

Married to a lawyer and messing around?????? wow what a gutsy guy. there are a couple of large hotels on the river.....I think one is a Marriot. Also one attached to the shopping center down the road from nana.....a long ways down the road.
