The difference in the rooms are of size and the superior that I had opend to a patio balcony. This was in main wing, it was 1400 baht per. You'll know the superior room any way, if they are all the same, coz the A/C unit above the shit house door likes to freeze up and, leave a musty smell while you are dieing from the heat...

I always thought that the superior room was supposed to be 'superior' to the standard...but from your post should I be lucky I just went for the standard room?
This problem of airconditioning seems to happen in hotels which have single units in each room as opposed to central airconditioning system controlled by the hotel.
We'll see how it goes...if Dynasty sucks than there are more hotels to choose from during the next trip.

Slojo: Thanks for the reply. No, I have never stayed at the Dynasty Resort in Pattaya and yes, I did know about the shuttle. It always seemed to me that it would be a hassle to get from the Dynasty Resort to the action in Pattaya. One thing that I like about the Dynasty Inn is their excellent breakfast and they have a real good laundry service.

Does the Dynasty provide a free shuttle FROM Pattaya TO Bangkok? I will not be staying at the Dynasty in Pattaya but figure might as well stay in Dynasty in Bangkok for a few nights if transport is free. How do I get to the Pattaya location from North Pattaya?

If you use their free transport to Pattaya they would expect you to make a booking in their hotel in Pattaya.
The hotel is actually quite nice but it is a wee bit away from the nightlife areas. The hotel runs a free schuttle (every two hours during the day, if my memory serves me right) other than that you will be using either taxis, baht busses or motor bike taxis.
I should also point out that if you use this hotel, you aren't charged for the trip down to Pattaya but will be charged for the return to Bangkok (the last time I stayed in this hotel, about a year and a half ago, they charged 400 baht for the return to Bangkok).

When I have stayed at Dynasty Inn in BKK the last time I read about their free shuttle service to their sister hotel in Pattaya. It is as Mcdonald says they expect you to make a booking and the hotel is quite far away from the nightlife.
I did not investigate what they would charge me, if I did not stay at the hotel in Pattaya.

I am currently staying at the Dynasty, and was going to take advantage of the free ride to Pattaya if you stay for a minimum of two nights at their resort there.
The fellow at the tour desk informed me that the regular 990B rooms were all booked up so I would have to take a bungalow or superior room for a higher price, and I said piss on it. I want to be closer to the action anyway, so I'll splurge on the 1000B limo ride (Reung 01-825-7182) and find a cheaper hotel when I get there.

many years ago, when i first went to Pattaya. for the sake of adventure, I decided to take a bus. i was very surprised at the high quality of the air conditioned bus and the comfort of the seats. i took the luxury service, but i remember it was very cheap.
i felt very happy because it mad me feel smart as I was getting on a public bus since .... what maybe well over ...14 years. i felt so in touch with the proletariat (nah! i am not, but i often pass for a snob).
my point is that I found the bus service to Pattaya is surprisingly good! -and yes, normally i am the spoiled type not willing to sacrifice comfort to save a few bucks. so trust me when i say the regular bus service is good. save the money on the limo and pay a bit more for the room would be my advice.

I don't know, Smegma, I took the bus from Eckamai to Pattay last year, it was dirt cheap but crowded, hot, and the seat was excruciating. I was in the middle of some music festival in Pattaya, though, and maybe would have been less crowded at a different time.

Last October I stayed at the Dynasty. They were building the annex, and my room was opposite the jackhammers. I moved to a larger room for no extra charge, though there was no sunlight, and a giant air exchange unit outside the window that never seemed to stop running. Otherwise I enjoyed the room service, deep fried prawn...Yum, but the Thais never seem to get the Tartar sauce right,( took me days to figure out to go buy it from the grocery). I found the staff helpful if not a bit taxed and at times stressed. Try as they might I could not get a decent referral to a dentist during my last trip,( Though the taxi driver eventually did get me to the Dental Hospital, and I highly recommend it).I try to bring the desk ladies a tin of cookies every few days or so as that way they remember me for my kindness. I will say one or two nights the desk lady did give my BG some kind of hard time when I was running her upstairs, though I suspect I could have simply gone in the back door up the stairs rather than through the front. I found the location to be the main advantage, and while the breakfast buffet at the Nana wasn't free, it was a very short walk across the street. Chucky Chuks and me took the taxi van to Pattaya, and it left a 8:30 Am and we took the tour of Bangkok prior to FINALLY getting to our hotel at like 3:30 PM. We took a private taxi back for like 1200 baht and I will NEVER EVER take a van again. Chucky was playing with some BG's tits all the way there though....All in all I'll go back to the Dynasty, but I think next time I'll insist on a room with a view, or at least some sunlight.
