You could stay at Park Hotel on Soi 7 (opposite Beer Garden) for about that price. They have long term stay rates. Or you could get a room at Nana Condo (about 50 yards from Nana Plaza down soi 4). I heard the rate is about 10,000/month.

Khao San Road is really quite a different scene: backpackers travelling with their girlfriend, etc.
If you want to discuss ecosystems or the iniquity of the capitalist system, head for Khao San Road.
If you want girly action, Sukhumvit is the place for you.

You may want to try Swan Inn in Soi 4......on the left hand side going down just before you get to the Brunswick. Its about 500 metres down the soi. 500 baht a night - nothing too fancy - limited cable TV - a/c - no problem at all with girls - as many as you like when you like.
There is a restaurant and big pool hall downstairs - although don't go to play if you have no one to play with. They will expect you to pay for the games whether you win or lose when you play one of "girls" working there.
They have "safety boxes" but have your own key and lock as the normal locks can be opened by anyone with anything.
