Then you're supporting nothing. Useing the wrong choice of words still does not make me a racist. So before you step in over your head to something that has nothing to do with you (or even Kris for that matter), stop and take a breath. I champion the cause against hipocracy, biggotry, and the general poor situation of the underdog. Like I said " it dont matter to me what nationality the owners are, they still assholes, but it's my understanding they are Indian. Therefore they were the asshole of the day period!!!

I have stayed in the Nana many times (overnight) over many years (15) without baggage and never had such a thing happen.
Obviously they don't like people with a Khao San Rd. look.

Except during the Dec-Jan travelling busboy season, I still like the Nana. ÝI have gotten bad rooms, but always able to change to a better one, with a smile from the desk. ÝIt helps that I remember them, and they remember me (sometimes  ), but if they can, they always seem willing to accommodate.
I usually stay for one or two nights, when I have been upcountry, and often arrive with a backpack - no questions asked.
And I LIKE the platform beds, pillows and mattresses. ÝCall me weird. ÝTip: untuck the crappy blanket, and turn it 90 degrees. ÝThen, you won't freeze under the air vent.
After 2 nights, though, the hustle-bustle has lost its charm, and I'm ready to settle into a nice serviced apt.
The only other gripe I have is the geriatric mafia in the lobby, taking up space 24hrs, and ruining the decor. ÝWhere do these guys come from, and will I end up as one of them in a few (not TOO few!) years?

btw - I don't THINK they are Indian owned, but my favorite, GP, IS! ÝStereotypes are fairly useless.

The Nana Hotel used to be Indian owned and may still be. And I like the Nana too.
The Sheraton GP IS Indian owned, by the Narulla family, who fortunately do not have a hand in the management.
The same family owns and operates the Royal Siam Lodge, the Amari City Lodges, and the Amari Boulevard (the last one under Amari management and the City Lodges under Narulla management with Amari consulting.)
I do not care for the Narulla-run properties as a friend was burglarized at one of their City Lodges and was treated like shit. It was clearly an inside, South Asian job.
I would not stay at ANY Narulla property as a result. Not even the safe ones; it's a matter of protest.
So am I a racist?
Remember I like the Nana.

The people who most despise the Thai-Indians (and Indian tourists) are the Thais. The Thai hurtful expletive for them is the Kaek ("the guest(s)") -- it's a syllable that almost rhymes with "Jack" but with a little gutteral in it, as if you are clearing phlegm from your throat. Halfway between Jack and gag.
