anybody of your guys knows if the Grand Diamond located at Petchburi rd. is still guest friendly? And what about the rooms, they are still nice and newish?

There is 2 GD the new and the old. I think they must be ok with girls I do not know I never stayed there I lived next to it. Its in the middle of pratunam clothing market and I mean in the mess. If you not deal clothing I suggest another like maybe Grand Majestic very close to nana. The elevators in the 2 towers give me the creeps.

I stayed at the Grand Diamond back in 2004. Got a good rate, but not guest friendly and always guards at the lift. Also tried in-room massage (oil) with girl from basement parlour - they advertise in the rooms's and have a house number you can call, but no "extra's" offered.
Breakfast room crowded with young asian tourists.
So, all in all, wouldn't recommend it, unless you like the Pratunam area and your main interest's are clothing and computer/software

Like he said many Busses with japan and hong kong 0 dollar tours. A lot of cheap scale tourist and not near any of the BG places.

Are we talking about Grand Diamond or Baiyoke, it sounds like y'll refering to Baiyoke - have they changed name?

Grand Diamond is not that bad, not in the middle of Pratunam, but actually near Pantip Plaza (computer and software/movie stuff) and Platinum Plaza (new smallish mall where a bunch of shops used to be). Location wise is not that bad, but I cannot comment on the GF as I have never used it before. The Baiyoke location wise is much worse, and there are a number of problems with it, taxi access wise etc. From Grand Diamond, you can walk abit to the world trade center (central plaza now it is called) and hook to the BTS, not a short walk, about 15 to 20 minutes. Traffic is bad there but it is more accessible than the Baiyoke.

It is not guest friendly - unless you have a room with double occupany. If you don't, when you bring the girl (friend) you will have to register her at the front desk - there is a security guard there before you go to the lifts - so there is no way of bypassing him. The fee for bringing your friend to your room is $ 400 baht.
Other than that, the rooms are excellent, I can usually walk to Chidlom BTS about a 10 minute walk.

I see it's been several years for this hotel but have a friend who is planning on staying there in June so wondering if anything has changed cause it sounds like it's not all that great. Thanks in advance
