hi,
i've stayed at the dynasty inn (diagonal from nana) a couple times now and have found the rooms (pre-air conditioning turn on) to be a bit..."moist"...almost smelling of mildew.
i know thailand is all tropical and shit, but can anyone recommend a relatively cheap...okay, pretty damn cheap...hotel with non-mildew smelling rooms?
but also, I prefer not having the cleaning solution smell close up my throat...

I hate that rotting carpet smell to....No problems a year or two back when we stayed regularly at the Promenade Hotel in Soi 8.....use the search engine with the words Promenade and dump (not my word for it) and you will find the thread on it.
It was a clean, cheap place, that tried its best but had past its prime 20 years ago....I liked it cause it reminded me of me. Enjoy.

I believe it originates with certain Black American Slangs, meaning "including everything of like nature, or that one would typically find in such situations."
Eg. "Thailand is tropical, including everything one would find in such situations (of tropical climates)."
My definition. Would be interested in follow up investigations.

You are correct that it comes from Black American Slang or (to be PC) Eubonics. However 'shit' is a filler word that has many possible meanings depending on the context in which it is used. For example:
Yo fulla shit --> You are lying
What dat shit --> What is that thing
So dats the shit --> So it is the facts (or possibly that is the drugs)
This is Thailand and the shit --> This is Thailand and all it encompesses
These are just some examples of the use of 'shit' in Eubonics. Any more discussion would probably be a topic of another thread  ...
