Stayed in Bophut last time in Samui - was happy BUT would like to stay closer to Chewang this time (February/March) - probably 3 weeks.
Looking to spend a maximum of 1800BHT - per night, must be guest friendly, decent breakfast, wi-fi, close enough to Chewang to avoid taxis everywhere - but far enough from the madness, close enough to walk to a beach, swimming pool, decent breakfast - and come highly recommended.
Any ideas or am I being unrealistic?

I am hoping you have a reason for not staying Lami Beach as its way way better - less crowded better woman- bars - beach - and fun-

I stayed Samui for 8 weeks two years ago-
Lami is the go

We got an excellent deal in September in Bophut from a personal recommendation - but the taxis were a killer. Plus it was a honeymooners/couples type hotel so turning up with different girls made us stand out like sore thumbs!

Hire a motor bike in Lami stay beach side "rich hotel" 1200 a night- rest is easy-
Where you are is crowded and a rip off

Lami bottom line is this-
More choice better beaches - lots of budget hotels-
We stayed in a place outside your requested budget -
Seaview paradise- but I wasnt paying-
Rich hotel has a bar literally on the beach-
It was fine cheap and the two nights I stayed there I could walk home from the near by beer bars-
I wouldnt pay too much attension to so called travel guide advisors - in time you will learn often its rigged-
Word of mouth on forums seem more reliable-
But again why ask a forum if you go with middle men and that sort of info?
All I can say is its not hard to find accomadation that has a pool or beach outside in Lami for the 1000-2000 price range-
And the girls are more relaxed as is the whole town-
There is coyote dancing at night along the southern end-
The beer bars are cheap-
Saturday night there is female boxing matches around the beer bar complex-
There is a good philipino band Tuesdays and fridays at the beer garden-
Motor bikes are 120 baht a day-
Less crowded-
A boat to the full moon island also can be caught-
Move around see for your self - but anyone who knows the island will never choose where you are over Lami
