Is there a difference between a standard room and a superior room at the Manhattan?
On Manhattan's website, it is advertising an internet special of B1600 for a superior single/double room and on the Siam.net site the posted rate for a standard single/double room at the Manhattan is US$22.00 (B925). Ý

Go to http://www.google.com and do a search on:
manhattan hotel bangkok
You will get websites for a lot of travel agencies and can better evaluate the siam.net offer. It is not unusual for the hotel web site to list higher rates than the travel agencies.

Perhaps I was not clear on my last post so let me rephrase it. ÝOn Siam.net, the rate for a STANDARD room at the Manhattan Hotel is US$22 a night and on Manhattan Hotel's own website, the rate for a SUPERIOR room is US$38 a night. ÝThere is no option for a SUPERIOR room on Siam.net while there is no mention of a STANDARD room on Manhattan's website. ÝIf in fact a SUPERIOR room is the same as a STANDARD room, than the price difference is the discount via Siam.net; however, if there is a difference between a SUPERIOR room and a STANDARD room at the Manhattan Hotel, than the price difference is due to something more than just a discount from Siam.net. Ý
Are the SUPERIOR and the STANDARD at the Manhattan Hotel two different types of rooms?

I understood your question. I thought that some of the other travel agencies might use the term "SUPERIOR" to describe the room with the same price ($22), and thus you could probably conclude that SUPERIOR and STANDARD was the same at this hotel.
However, after searching myself, I was not able find any travel agencies who used the term SUPERIOR to describe the rooms at this rate at the Manhattan. So my advice does not work.
You might want to contact Manhattan directly (via email), and see if they will match the travel agency rate, and then you can find out for sure which type of room.

I posted the question on the forum because the Manhattan did not answer my question on the same subject; however, they did inform me that all rooms have a safe inside.
I am not going to waste any more time trying to find the answer to this because it's not a vital piece of information.

siam-online.net is one of the best I've used. I kept chaing my plans and they kept accamodating (no pun intended) me. MH is one of the best hotels I have ever been in, but the gym is a piece of crap.
Everything else is great and the room are practically designed for bringing TGs up there. Every girl I had commented that the MH was one of the best hotels they have been brought too.

I thought the gym was better now they renovated. They did renovate right? I emailed them and they said the gym was 200baht...if its decent I would be happy to pay it.

I have finally got an answer from the Manhattan Hotel. They said that the superior room is the same as the standard room. I guess you can get a really good discount if you book through Siam.net.

I ended up having a very nice time at the Manhattan. I stayed there for two weeks at 990baht plus breakfast. The rooms are nothing to write home about, but neither is that price. The breakfast as mentioned before is very nice and I tried to get up each morning with my LT to enjoy it, though I slept through a couple. Towels were clean and air con worked though it was either off or on and no adjustment was possible.
I booked the double and never had any questions from the staff except to get IDs. One night though when my Star of Light girl and her sister and I came waltzing in, the staff was quick to ask if both girls would be staying the night. They just wanted an extra 480baht for the second girl, and that was fine with me. Got some interesting looks though when I declined their offer for "extra bed sir?" No I won't need an extra bed, they'll both be with me tonight... 
And it was nice seeing my brother Dave there as well! Miss you very much Dave! Hope you and your lady and doing well!
