Hey guys, I've looked around the forums, but can't seem to find a definitive answer to this. I'm wondering if tipping a hotel clerk for a better room or a maitre'd for a better table works or if the Thai consider it an insult (i.e. rich farang flaunting his money). I'd love to finagle my way into a suite or something while I'm in LOS. Any ideas/experiences?

ROTFLOL! Of course, Kev's idea works the best - apart from that, I found that if you are a regular at one location, and you follow-up with nice e-mails detailing what a great job they did, and you returnin bringing more and more people with you, and you make friends with the manager, you tend to have a high probability of them extending a direct discount to you - in my case, I'm getting a damn good discount at Centre Point, which I can extend to friends, as long as I call in the reservation.
