Guess part of your post is valid... what you omit is for many people patronizing the place it's just one club in a string of clubs they'll visit that night, so we won't be crying or going home alone if the place doesn't pick up by midnight. Better be in Cow Boy slapping some ass a few steps away if in need of action, really not difficult to enjoy both areas... or out to Q bar, RCA and a myriad of busier clubs, can even pick up two FLs on Sukhumvit and pull them back to any hotel by their earz, and they might smile. Picking up a girl is not exactly the most arduous task in BKK. Plus it likely never crossed your mind, but the guy who set up that club might have as much mood to run a country club as shooting himself in the knee. Hence better sell... I think I'd rather go that way if those were the choices...
It would be good to see a busier Glow but if we keep talking about it, it's that the place has personnality and answers expectations of a certain market. It might not have the wide unconditionnal following of a holy place like Eden but it does press the right buttons of an enthusiastic customer base who's looking for this kind of experience.
I hope BKK's runner's marketting efforts pay and that the place will keep its spirit. And will be there again in a couple of weeks again to start a couple of evenings.

FYI, Glow does not play "Techno" Music. It is called "HOUSE", but you would never know the difference.
I second what AP says. It is easy to find girls in BKK. Every place I go does not have to be a pick up joint. It is also nice to have a place (Close to my Apt), that I can have some drinks with friends, and not be bothered by a bunch of stupid bitches, or styless guys like yourself, who would remind me of that MTV Mullet guy, singing "Born In the USA" in his Camaro..lol

Agreed. Wasn't my point. My point is that IMHO, Techno (ok, Electronic...House....you're right I don't know or care what the difference is) is so crappy that you got to be on drugs to enjoy it.
So you might have limited "individual taste" if you need somebody to tell you whats the top40.
Oh, yeah, my tastes might be "limited" but are in the majority of listeners...hence the popularity of "top 40". And no, I don't need to have someone tell me what's good or not....I can judge on my own and Techno is crap. I can listen to it for about 5-10 minutes then it all sounds the same to me from then on.
Again, this is my opinion and that's why I don't go to Glow. It's not personal so don't take it personally.
GoGo bars play crap music anyway in all categories. The fact that you have been brainwashed to make you like hotel california does mean its good music. Its a matter of individual taste.
I agree that many Gogos play crap but in that case they might have some girls to look at so it's not a total loss. When you play crap music AND don't have girls then you will have problems attracting customers. Anyway, you're right about Hotel California....if I hear that song one more time I'm going to slit my wrists!

I'm not native english speaking and because of that there might be some errors in this post. So, to those who cannot stand anything else than perfect english - skip this post... lol.
And to the rest of folks, here's my two cents.
Top40 - you get to hear that everywhere and all the time. There's 13 bars in dozen playing middle of the road safe and sound Pussycat Britneys and throwing once and a while some Classic Rock in to the mix for guys so, that we can play air guitar and shout "Thunder...". BTDT.
But to have every single bar's music selection a photocopy of Joe and Jill Averages music collection and have a night-out always in a joint like that. No thanks - I do not want to end up having my holiday in clone of suburban USA.
I live in town of 500k habitants and even here bars playing electronic music survive - why not in BKK. Techno/House/Latin venues are propably not the most popular ones, but they do have their own clientele... are customers high... propably some, but is it any different percentage than in regular rock concert, probably not. That avenue leads nowhere.
I remember hearing "the message" way back in early 80's and it took hip hop some odd twenty years to hit the mainstream... Electronic music is today's Punk music - A choice for the de facto popular music. If you are not ready for it, so be it. Patronizing house music is just plane dumb.
So, count me in. I will be checking Glow out next time I'll be in BKK... and if there are not any girls... too bad, mans gotta do what mans gotta do... I go to next house oriented club. Those perky TGs have to be outthere somewhere - not all hopefully packed in Classics rock bars. But if they are, I have a plan B.
If I fail in search of clubbing at BKK - "Thunder..." flows in my ears just as easily than house, but do I get same kicks that I had when it first hit my ears - hell no. Will I have fun - of course - it's Bangkok baby and there's no point to be petty if I do not hear my current house favorites while chasing some skirt.

A few years ago I asked about good house music clubs and was pretty much run off the board. I knew the scene would come around eventually. Glad to see there's a few more with the same interest.

I think the reason some guys have to always pay for girls is for them to stomach their taste in music.
Nothing dates you more than being from the older generation saying how things were in the good old days. Every generation seems hell bent on complaining on the younger generation's taste in music or apparent lack of.
Now I could not dance to rock and roll and I still can't dance to the latest music, but I still like to listen to them both. My taste in modern music lets me hang out and be with young Thai girls who by most count are not packing the Old School Rock bars unless they are paid escorts or employee's.
GLOW is one of the few places in the Sukhumvitt Hooridor that you can take a girl where she is in tune with the times, don't have ho's hanging all around and is not packed to the gills to where you cannot move (aka Q-Bar, RCA)
Besides GLOW has the best voBKa selection in town, bar none and makes a great drink at a reasonable price.
It does require you to bring you own date that will limit some people from attending and I think that is a good thing.
Besides when Nakadia did her last gig there she had some Deep Purple and AC/DC into the mix.
As for taking your dates to Go'Go's
