This place has found its groove now. Went there three times in November- packed! Obviously, gets going after the other bars close. Full of girls from Soi Cowboy, Soi 33, Nana Plaza, Freelancers and some Titanium girls. Very nice! Go into the Diner in front. If you buy a coke (85 Baht,) you get into Insomnia for free. Enjoy

...worst meal I ever had in bkk at diner in front! the worst!! went with doc love and bc jeff. we were very surprised. inside the diner was nice, but the food was sooo bad we were all completely dissapointed. the disco has no live music. waste of time. you are better off in a gogo or climax club for sure!!!!!

Nahhhh! You're totally pro-Climax that's for sure. I'd go to Insomnia anytime of the night. I hate the live music! Just too damn loud. Better still, go to Mixx! Definitely a better selection there.

Having a bad at a night club just does not work for me.
As bkkz said, too damn loud. ala Climax, when the band comes on, makes me want get out!!
As for Insomnia, last few times there, definitely getting better each time. The bonus of having and getting 20% off drinks also is appealing.
As for the diner out the front, already been warned by a friend, so after Jumping Jimmy's report, definitely won't be eating there, but Insomnia itself, gets my vote.

went to insomnia last visit, was definitely packed, but lacked some atmosphere, almost too big.
i love the idea of discos, sexy girls, some chatting and best of all some groping and grinding to the music. but the percentages seem bad now. not enough hot girls! and the handful there are seem to have like a table of young guys buzzing around them. of course i'm bitter because I am not one of those guys 
but the odds almost seem better at a disco back in the states. and then I end up kinda settling and usually the girl once undressed is NOT a keeper. the few times I have brought a go-go girl to the disco- it really strikes me how much cuter and sexier they look than the girls there. but I keep going because of a few success in the past - which were great. but chance of repeating seem remote.
so how about u guys? agree, disagree? just getting older and cranky ?

Guess it depends on the day of the week. In my last visit, about a few weeks ago, there were so many available girls. Anyway, one picked me up and we had a great shag.  Petite and delicious.

I don't care for Insomnia in PTY or BKK, too dark, too loud, too industrial, too something. But I have to admit, those places sure pack them in, lots of girls in the BKK venue on the one Friday I ventured there. And one cute girl was trying very hard to pick me up, if only I hadn't been in a foul mood when I entered from having been biffed minutes before.
But I much preferred Mixx on that prior Wednesday night. Wow, BK and I had a blast that night! Better lights (I could actually see the girls with my old eyes), great mixed crowd, and a sexy vibe, lots of contact, lots of choices. Smoking and non-smoking sections, perfect. More like the old Nana Plaza disco of old, but with better looking girls and no band.
Socal, you ARE getting old and cranky, that goes without saying.  Aren't we all... But I do agree with your take on Insomnia and most discos in BKK and PTY. I'm thinking we need to venture further afield...
All that said, if BK thinks there are gems at Insomnia, he is no doubt correct, and I will be there next time I am in town if he invites... so it goes.
