I'm looking for disco-like places to hit when I'm not really looking for prostitutes. Good music, a few beers, a little dancing, and some interesting young chics to practice a little Thai with. So far I've read a bit about CM2, nana disco and RCA on this forum. I can't really decide and I'm probably missing a few.
Problem #2 is telling a freelancer from a non-working girl. Seems like a really thin blurry line between the two. The only idea I have is that a girl with lots of gold, a cell phone, and expensive clothes likely is a working girl. But, to minimise the nuber of times I get slapped is there some definative sign?

Assume that all Thai women whom you meet outside of Go-Gos, Beer Bars and Massage Parlors are not working girls. You can't really go wrong in this approach. If they are on the job as a freelancer then they should make it fairly clear to you. So chat them up like you would a girl back home. If she suggests going off with you then she is probably a working girl.
Even then, if you don't mind living a bit on the edge, if she doesn't discuss money then I would let it go. If you hook up with someone, and money was never discussed, offer to give her some money for shopping. If she seems offended then she may have been just having a fling or sees you as boyfriend material. These two scenarios are not terribly likely but apparently becoming more common. She could even be a working girl on her night off out for a bit of fun and doesn't want to think about what she does for a living.

If you are looking for a place to go dancing and to possible hook up, then I would say Sparks or Narcissus. Late at night, the females that work at the MP's on that road will venture to Sparks to hang out. Narcissus is located next to Pegasus. You will get both working and non-working females at both of these places. The music has been changin at Sparks from techno-trance to more asian/dance/freestyle type music.
People that are in college usually hang out at RCA. Thus ... they are young.
Free-lancers vs. non-working female??
That is a tough question. You can try to look at the way they dress and carry themselves. But, that is not a very good way to judge. It does help though weed out the obvious ones though.
One thing I do is to see how the female interacts with you and also ask where they work. Of course they can give you (b.s), but it is usually easy to tell when they are. Also, for the most part. Thai women are usually pretty shy and most of the time conservative in dress. And ... the non-working females will probably NOT have sex with you on the first "date". Working females also tend to be more aggressive.
But, these are just my opinions and experiences. Trust your judgment and intuition.

I would say that you have plenty of places to go out at night, ranging from local pubs to discos and from low-class to high-class levels. You will certainly start conversation with the next table wherever you are. This will bring some nice times discussing with other guys and girls. You can find nice places like Sugar Beat, Yes Indeed!, River Bar, Hollywood (the disco), Dance Fever, Tapas, ...
As far as bringing girls from these places, it is always possible, tough you have to be careful. You will certainly notice that when the places close (2am), it is the start for negotiation and getting girls phone numbers. Thai guys are very good for that and this is the customs I noticed every Friday and Saturday night. You can notice the girls passing you and discussing together, simulating you are even not here but arguing about her friend likes you or not, etc... This is Thailand and you have to get the trick to get those girls. Now, you have to be careful because cute girls are usually hunted by other guys and drunk thai guys are your worst enemy. An other thing: getting a girl that will really like you, she will stick to you like hell and you will have to explain during hours where you are every night and why you are not going out with her every Friday and Saturday nights. And the more money they have, the worse they are. And don't make them angry, Angry Thai girls are terrible.

hmmm. i have to agree jeff. the cute ones probably aren't working girls. i remember this one girl from pattaya (my so-called x), whom persistently asked to get an HIV test when i visited her. everyday same question. if not that, she was always correcting me of my manners. i.e. cover my mouth when i yawn, keep two elbows off the table when eating, etc. but it did give me more respect for her. and ensured that she was clean. college girls are a little more prissy.

Once met a non-working girl in, of all places, Soi 7 Beergarden. Working as a salesperson in that IT Mall next to Fortune Hotel Was with friends and chatted freely. IMHO - ANY TG sen in Sukhumvit after 11pm is more than likely 'available" As to genuine straight girls, they will not be allowed out after then, or alternatively after working 12 hours a day, and spending another hour on the bus to go home, will be keen to sleep ; just how you categorise the few thousand odd that get to RCA each fri/Sat. not sure, they certainly arent BGs, they are mostly young, good looking, as they drink/smoke, big chance they are also into sex, but you will need to be pretty young looking, plus speak thai, to have much joy at this scene - if you are, then go for it, certainly if I was younger, on the lookout for decent TGs, Id be at RCA nightly ... well, when i wasnt at Dance fever !
