I'm a big rap fan and always got my collection of 400 westcoast CDs with me, but who gives a damn about the music when it comes to clubbing in the LOS. Non commercial black music is simply not running here, so you have to bring your Too $hort mentality with you and adapt to the setting. Once you pulled a victim, you are free to bring her to your room and switch on the cd player.

Last trip to BKK about 7 months ago, many females were getting into Hip Hop. They did not like the ganster type stuff, but more main stream. It's only a matter of time before it starts to hit the clubs there. Played some old school NWA and the females were all up and groovin'.
Break dancin' in also either making a comeback in BKK or just arriving. Not really sure. But ... saw many teens in the middle section on the Skytrain area between MBK and Discovery throwin' down.
But .... with all that said, I do not see the Euro club, techno, pop, freestyle type music dying in the clubs. I will admit that I also enjoy dancin' to that type of music at the clubs.

I'm not sure about it only being a matter of time; Many people have tried (including me) to introduce Hip Hop on BKK radio and in clubs many times over the last 15 years that Hip hop has boomed elsewhere, and failed every time. The techno stuff got here within a year--why would it take Hip Hop over 15? Sure if it's on top 40 (Will Smith etc.) then you'll hear it--but a packed club that's really pumping with sweaty bodies groovin to an all night Hip Hop beat...? When? Where?
Believe me, I hope I'm wrong (and I hope it gets here before I'm too old to dance. OK,OK I'm already too old...)

Okay. I do not think that any time soon, you will be able to go to a club and only hear hip hop. But ... hopefully they will start to place some songs into their play list. But ... I believe that it will be more mainsteam Hip Hop, which maybe some "true" hip hop enthusiest might not consider hip hop!! ha ha ha!!
I like the Eminem. Do you consider the song "Without Me", hip hop or rap or club??
Either way, I hope we are both wrong and I will hear it at the clubs!! Hey ... we can hope?? ha ha ha!!!

Yes we can hope.  I would be satisfied with fairly typical mainstream stuff; Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Q Tip, Jay Z etc. I generally don't like real commercial music but I'm not an extreme Rap purist (or expert).
As for Eminem I guess it's rap but I think he's over-rated and I think his latest stuff seems like he's running out of creative juice. (But I loved "My name is...My name is...SLIM SHADY!"  ). BTW who's the made Eminem what he is today?
