Wow have just stumbled on this thread last night... and would like to relay my story of what happened to me a few years ago...
I had taken my father to BKK a few years ago as he was in advanced years and was forever pushing to come away with me and the family. To cut a long story short, he suffered a heart attack and passed away one afternoon in his hotel room on the Suk (if you are going to go, I could think of worse ways).
That night, I was alone in my hotel room in BKK. My Thai wife (now ex wife, story to be told at some point), was in her house up North and was going to fly down the next day to help me out at the Embassy and police etc.
I don't believe in ghosts, spooks or anything like that, the same as anyone of sound mind who has never experienced anything of this nature. I am a very light sleeper and I cannot sleep with the air conditioning on - the sound drives me bonkers. For the near 20 years or so I have been coming to LOS, I always put the air con on full blast at night, turn it before I hit the sack, and normally I am asleep before the room starts to get hot and sticky. Whenever I wake up, the room will always be hot and I will be sweaty, as you can expect.
This particular night, obviously I was upset with the passing of my father. I got to sleep about 1am, after being exhausted with the days events and my emotions etc.
At 3.30am I was awoken by my shower, it was being used at full pelt. I stumbled to the bathroom, and the shower just spluttered, then stopped, it was switched off. Then I noticed how cold the room was, it was literally freezing, but the air con was still off. I tried to justify it by thinking I was in shock from my dad, but really, the room had cold air blowing through it, like a wind. Then, a few minutes later the temperature seemed to get back to how it should have been. I went back to bed, a little confused, but not thinking too much, as my thoughts were still with my father.
The next day, wife turns up, and tells me that dad had come to her home the night before. What do you mean I say... she says that in the middle of the night, all the electrics in her house started going funny, air cons going off, lights flickering etc. What time was that I said... about 3.30am she said. (We had had the house built a couple of years before this, and not once, never, had there been a power cut of any sort).
I told her about the shower and the air con, and she said, very normally, that dad was coming to say good bye, to me and her, and that it was his spirit making the air cold, shower come on etc etc. She said it straight faced and showed that the Thais really believe in this sort of stuff.
One last thing, I just noticed this thread on 6th April.... the day he passed away.... 6th April.

Hi Guy's, I for one never used to believe in ghosts, but two incidents prior to the episode on my last trip changed my mind. In 2009, I was staying at a so called boutique hotel in Silom, about a block away from Patpong. I had booked a suite for a reasonable price because I like my creature comforts. Anyway, one afternoon, I came back from shopping at MBK and the Paragon. I was lying down on my bed, thinking about what I wanted to do for the night, and my skin started to get goose bumps, and my hair started to stand straight up. I could feel a presence in the room and the air felt thick. I looked around but could not see anything amiss. I had bought a gold Buddha amulet/talisman from my first trip to LOS at MBK, while having my first GFE. Yes, I bought her a gold chain and amulet too, but it was first trip right? She explained that it would protect me and bring me luck. I have brought it to every trip to LOS since then. I grabbed my amulet and said something to the effect to protect me and peace be with this presence/spirit. I somehow felt that someone had died in this room. To my relief things came back to normal and I had no further incidents. On my next trip in 2010, one night I was at my favorite disco in a hotel with a famous shrine outside. I love live music and this disco always has top bands. Anyway I came kind of early to relax and have a few drinks, and listen to the band and wait for the FL hotties to roll in. I've had my best GFE. ST's. LT's from the FL's that come to the disco and I've seen some the hotest chicks in here, dressed to the nine;s. I've even taken two of them, for a mind blowing threesome, if that's your thing. Some come in pairs or more. Anyway I was early and the place was not that crowded. I was standing to the right of the dance floor when all of a sudden, I felt four HEAVY TAPS on my right shoulder form behind. In a second I turned around and there was no one near me within twenty feet! WTF? I did a 360 and the wait staff was all at the bars. I was wearing my amulet, I shivered, but the babes was starting to come in, I had work to do. My other head was ready to go. I've heard rumours or urban myths form the locals that people where buried in the hotel cement when it was under construction, or had died from an accident.

Way back in 1998, I barfined a girl from Patpong. We were out partying, and she had quoted me 5,000 B for LT, even by today's standards, that damn steep. I agreed on that price as I had wanted to f*** her. But when I brought her to my cheap room, she freaked out. She said she couldn't stay there. Ok....in that very first instance in May 2002..it was a day I was suffering from sun stroke mildly.
I had made the mistake of just getting too much hot sun on the back of my neck and walking a few kilometres.
By dark I was suffering
I was really f***ed up and unable to get out of bed.
She was laying next to me.
I will tell you how real this seemed.
When I recovered enough by lunch time ( next day) to go down stairs.....I remember praying she was a hooker I had taken upstairs and wanted to check with reception.
I guess I am blowing my persona here in saying this...
But I was shaking and extremely frightened by the whole thing.
When reception said " no lady go upstairs"....but they were interested in charging me for one none the less.

But as you do you rationalise it.
I was firstly, unable to move and had a fever.
It was an hallucinatory event brought on by sun stroke.
Here's a few details.
I lay there and this girl lay next to me as I slipped in and out of consciousness.
She gently said for me to not be afraid.
But I urinated the bed.
It was pretty heavy.
She was very very vivid and real.
And there for hours not fleetingly.
I even asked if I had died.?
She never mentioned the reason she was there ( that night) she just lay there and stared right at me.
I remember closing my eyes after figuring out I hadn't bar fined her.....I remember being dizzy and alone and the tv control falling from my hand....that was as the sun set....I knew I was alone for sure then.
The moment I figured that out was in itself hard.
"" how did you get in?" I would ask her
Next day I did a big number on myself to bolster my flagging desire to stay in Bangkok.
I took the decision to forget the whole thing......
Almost a year later there she was again.....this time I was sick....literally.
And that's what I tried to convince myself.
No more shit...no more big nights out.
"keep the eyes closed she might go away"
Fear can be very powerful.....I know why Asians fear ghosts
When she came back the third time I was in Chiang Rai in a dump hotel at 3am and again under a fan and sweating and off my face.
I haven't taken drugs since that night in 2004 her 3rd visitation.
But that didn't get rid off her 3 years later after a spider bite and in tapraya hospital she came again.
That's when I got the whole story
What details the apparition gave me was her name and the story of how she fought with a girlfriend,and caught a taxi in Soi 22 in 2000, and a fat Thai man who made jokes at first, drove her into a lane way and punched her very hard in the face and began choking her.
Her death was recounted many many times.
He raped her as she was passing.
It was a very vivid recount.
She tried to give me once or twice details such as his face had some sort of disfigurement....to this day I check out taxi drivers
