Easy trap to fall into, and one you should avoid - that attitude also makes you far easier to take advantage of.

You don't need a girl to go shopping with you, they get bored very very quick if what you are buying is not for them, and they do not haggle. The price you are told is the price they will say is right. Thai girls in the company of a foreigner do not negotiate price, they don't even do that when they are by themselves shopping.
You are going to be here long enough so forget about store shopping for clothes, and head directly for a good tailor shop, and take advantage of some good quality, perfectly fitted, tailored shirts, and slacks.
The negotiation starts when you buy in quantity from the same tailor, shirts in quantities of at least 3, the same with slacks. They don't have to be all the same material, just that you buy more than one shirt, or pair of pants.
There are some very good tailors here, and you can get top quality work done if you don't go for the specials. You just look around the many shops until you find material patterns you like for shirts then have them make. Slacks are different, but basically the same if you know what good materials for slacks are. If you are after suits you can not do better than here. You can even top them off with a top of the line cashmere top coat if you want.
Ex-President George Bush jr. has all his suits made by a tailor on lower Sukhumvit, and has since he was here during the Vietnam war, getting a new fitting every few years.. My complete wardrobe when I worked in the casinos of Nevada were all tailor made in Thailand.
There is no way a girl is going to help you getting tailor made clothes.
Not to sound insensative, but being deaf I'm sure you sign. I have been told signing is not a universal language, and each area has it's own style. If I am wrong then there is a group of vendors between soi 5, and soi 7 that are deaf, and you might get some buying help from them if there is some part of signing that is universal. Just a thought, and only meant to try and help.
With having abstained for 11 years, you are well advised to first visit a bj bar like Lolitas, and head upstairs into one of the booths totally curtained off to releave some pressure so you are not suseptable to the first girl that puts her hand on your leg, let alone where it goes after that.
You want to be in a frame of mind that you will be able to at least have some chance of making a decent decision about who you will want to be with your first few nights. You're going to have a hard time saying no to every single one of them, let alone not coming in your pants the first time one of them grabs your....well, you get the idea.
There is no way to explain what you are going to experience once you get here. It is totally foreign to anything you have experienced in your life, and in a good way. Reading here only gives you a very small inkling into what it is really like.
One of the biggest mistakes first times make here is settling for the first one that grabs your dick. Bam, you're in love, she touched me, and I don't care what she looks like. There are so many that fall into this trap it is depressing.
You will get, and meet pretty much exactly what your dreams envision if you try to hold out, and not cum unglued by the first ones that touch you....lolol, and there WILL be lots of them.
Most of the girls will be facinated by your beard, and not say anything, but they would prefer to be seen going out with someone without facial hair.
I haven't shaved since I've moved here.......because my barber only charges $2US (bt60) for a shave, and I visit there 3 times a week. My girlfriend, and her friends can't stand facial hair, and most Thai girls feel the same way.
When you give them money they will put up with it, but they really don't like it for the most part, especially if you will want them to go places with you.
You increase your chances of meeting a better class of girl if you get a shave once you get here.

As far as a long term relationship with a Thai girl here are the rules:
1) be ready to send her a lot of money. Every month. If you fail to do this, she is gone.
2) If you marry her and bring her back to your home country over time you will realize she is really a simple peasant girl with not much happening upstairs.
3) If you fall in love and move to Thailand you will grow tired of her because there are so many other girls to f***
4) The best way is to marry one half your age, have a lot of money in the bank and use her as a companion, sex godess and house cleaner. Don't have her cook too much as she will focus on Isaan food and unless you like fish sauce and fermented fish you will grow tired of it quickly.
