Hey, so I think I might have missed Koolbreeze's reply where he corrected me, and explained how Microsoft owns 37% of Apple, Inc.

....or the time that, according to koolbreeze, Microsft 'bailed out' Apple - yeah, I'm curious when that was supposed to have happened as well.

I'm sure I'm just not as familiar with Apple's history as koolbreeze is, so I'm genuinely waiting for him to enlighten us all as to these historical events....

.... either that, or realizing how totally wrong he was, he prefers to keep his tail tucked between his legs, hoping that everyone will forget his blunder..? Naaaah, it couldn't be that...

You're right duck, you have absolutely no knowledge of Apple's history before the Ipod, and how Microsoft bailed Apple out with a sizable cash influx for an equally sizable chunk of the company, or how Jobs was voted off the board, and lost control of the company for a time period. But your shallow mind would never be able to accept this truth because then your hero would be shown as flawed...lolol.

All your brainwashed mind can think of is how you can get your next rube to buy an Iphone.....lololol.

You really are a piece of work duck. No wonder very few people like you....lololol. You are probably the most ignored person, errrr duck, on this forum.......bda bda bda, that's all folks.....lololol.

Why, then I believe it will prove of no great difficulty to you to present us with some SUBSTANTIATING EVIDENCE for your claims, you know, at least URLs to supporting articles or evidence, right?

Though I would it hard to believe to see you drum up any support for your fabrications, since Microsoft does not own 37% of Apple currently, much less at any time in the history of either corporation.

Here, since you're clearly not able to use Google to prevent your own embarrassment, let me help you make a fool of yourself, okay.

In 1997 Microsoft invested $150 million in Apple, as the result of a cross-licensing negotiation / agreement that would cover 5 years. At the time, this amounted to about 150,000 shares, or less than 3% of Apple outstanding stock (nowadays, less than 0.04%). The acquired 150,000 shares of NON-VOTING stock, converted in 2000 and 2001 into common stock, and were sold in their entirety by 2003, upon the expiration of the agreement.

This minor invested achieved two several things for both Microsoft and Apple:

- it got Microsoft out of hot water with the SEC during an anti-competitive / monopoly investigation, which was droped partially because MS demonstrated investing in competitors.
- it established perceived 'trust' in Apple by Wall Street during the period when Apple was in a shaky condition right after Jobs returned, after Apple was seriously harmed by prior management (the same people that kicked Jobs out 10 years earlier)
- it ended an endless counter lawsuit between Apple and MS over oaten thefts by Microsoft, with a cross-licensing agreement.
- it had Apple agree to bundle MS Internet explorer as the default browser with Mac OS ("the world's best web browser", as Jobs snakily remarked at MacWorld in 1997)
- it had Microsoft agree to continue development of MS Office for the Mac for at least 5 more years.

Either way, the operative point here is that Microsfoft has since sold all of that stock, back in 2003 (though they should have held on to it, and sold it this year . MS only currently own an insignificant percentage of Apple through an investment fund, but that percentage amounts to less than several hundreds of a percent.

Oh yeah, that certainly sounds like some serious ownership to me. Not that I expect you to understand any of that, but maybe you could lean on one of the economic experts on this forum, like SMEGMA - I hear he even has several colorful degrees to point to, which have obviously helped him tremendously in his life, presently.

As for the details of Jobs getting kicked out by Sculley back in '86, the languishing of Apple during the decade that followed, and what he managed to do after his return in 1997, those are not only well documented, but I happen to be lucky enough to have lived through them and experienced them rather close up, so your fishing expedition is rather amusing.

By the way, where does your creative mind come up with the idea that my job is in selling iPhones? To end users, no less.

If I were a doctor (oh, wait, I am!) I would prescribe a serious dosage of clue pills for you.

Agreed, I find Fortune to be a more professional shopping environment - but occasionally, the Wild West nature of Panthip can be quite charming

About the Samsung Omnia - to each their own, it really matters what you are looking for in a mobile, though I would have taken you more for an Android guy, than picking a dead-end Windows Mobile phone. I find many of the HTc offerings to be quite superior in the same price range (personally, I like the HTC Legend, if only it was upgradeable to the newer version of Android, and packed a little more punch - really nice design, though.)

Again, to each their own - glad you like yours.

looked at HTC & wanted Android

the ones they sell in Asia don't have the 1900 band for 3G, so I canned that idea, it wouldn't do 3G in North America

then there was the Galaxia from Samsung, really nice with everything I wanted, except a flash for the camera

I just don't understand why a manufacturer doesn't just make a single model for global usage, versus killing themselves with regional models. Accommodating this kinda diversity crap only eats into their profit margins, and provides zero benefits.

Thanks for taking the time to explain your choice.

after my visit to North America last year, I realized that the manufacturers & the providers are obviously in bed together

apple needs to dump AT&T ASAP
they can't even provide 4G service for the latest i-Phone, hence it's just dubbed i-Phone 4 in North America vs. i-Phone 4G like it's know elsewhere in the World

there are even some phones out that are made specifically for the provider, i.e. any Sprint or Verizon CDMA phone

no SIM & a proprietary ROM that is un-crackable
I got a phone at walmart & after a week of f***in' about with it trying to get it to take my Thai SIM I just took it back & returned it

next time, I'm gonna bring a cheap unlocked phone from LOS
looking at getting a Nokia 6700 as a backup
