Yes, it can be said in a humorous way... She would likely have said: 'Pi bpen kon / poochai bah' or just simply 'bah'.....

As Seajohn said, this is a common expression among friends. You sometimes might hear it on soap operas....

Interesting when some claim to be fluent in English,,, I've tried this same question on dozens of people, born Americans, English, Scott's Aussies etc and got a NIL reply,,,, " give me the meaning or an example of a "quadruped ruminant". Best response from all was from a Chinese born Aussie,,, AHHH its 4 something.
The Americans where at a decided dissadvantage as they warznted to add "Zeds"AND "R's" in the words,, you mean "Zwadrrrapedzrr RrruZminarrntz".

Back on topic,, Phae ( like pack without the k) is for ghost ( I'm NOT fluent in Thai ),, Phi ( or pea) is for older,, as in Pee Chai Pee Sao. ( Oldwer sister / brother)
So Pee Ba means (in my NON fluent opinion) older person crazy.

Who cares,, give her 500 Baht and send her on her way

How funny is it, Berratta tries to transliterate his conversion as 'Pi' and then a lot of posters make up their own transliteration. You have to laugh about Jingjo saying it can't be ghost because it's written as 'Pee'.... :eyecrazy:

Again, it's very unlikely that 'Pi' means older brother/sister, whereas 'Pi' or 'Pee' is a word used in polite way, while 'bah' is not.... the two usually don't come together....

Pi or pee, however. We understand it's the vowel like in "see".

Not the vowel like in "pack".

Mel... Phae is not ghost... If you can read Thai, which you can't, that is a totally different vowel, a totally different word. It could mean 'to float' (like a raft) or 'to lose' or 'have a negative response to' (as in infection), depending on how you spell it. There is also a province with that name in the North. Etc.

You say you're not fluent in Thai and yet you want to contradict those who are.

Why would someone who knows others are more literate than himself in a given language suddenly come out with an absurd idea in contradiction to those who actually know the language?

...As if a language were a matter of opinion??!!

Beretta has already been told what it means. It is a common expression that his girlfriend has corroborated.

Is this a sample of your humor? OK.
Just curious.

However I do want to encourage you to keep studying. Learning a language is a wonderful thing, which introduces new feelings to the intellect. It is the door to new perspectives and cultures.
