If we add one more (Favvraa), and put him in the middle of this esteemed group, that would make him number 12. That is being pretty generous IMO,

#12, that's a good one. Stop it, my stomach hurts.

Come on, come clean. Which team do you cheer for that distorts your thinking? Someone Favre has owned, I'll bet. Lemme guess... Bears?

No, not the Bears. Actually, up until very recently I lived in your neck of the woods (well, not exactly woods but...). I was even there when they traded for Elway.

Look, if you compare Faavraa against the 23 QB's in the Hall of Fame, my opinion is that he is about 12. The career stats are misleading because the older guys only played 12 regular season games per year, and one playoff game (pre-Super Bowl).

I understand that others have a different opinion, and I respect that. But I look at performances in the playoffs, and just think Faavrra has come up short too many times, and made too many wild passes that got intercepted. I have a similar opinion of Marino.

Here are the 23 HOF QB's:

Troy Aikman 1989-2000
George Blanda (Also PK) 1949-1958, 1960-1975
Terry Bradshaw 1970-1983
Len Dawson 1957-1975
John Elway 1983-1998
Dan Fouts 1973-1987
Otto Graham 1946-1955
Bob Griese 1967-1980
Sonny Jurgensen 1957-1974
Jim Kelly 1986-1996
Bobby Layne 1948-1962
Dan Marino 1983-1999
Joe Montana 1979-1994
Warren Moon 1984-2000
Joe Namath 1965-1977
Bart Starr 1956-1971
Roger Staubach 1969-1979
Fran Tarkenton 1961-1978
Y.A. Tittle 1948-1964
Johnny Unitas 1956-1973
Norm Van Brocklin 1949-1960
Bob Waterfield 1945-1952
Steve Young 1985-1999

Ok, then please name for us the 11 QBs in that list that are better than Favre.

Also, are you getting to let us know who you cheer for so we can take that under consideration as well?

Mr Alan
9 Hall of Fame members in alphabetical order:

Troy Aikman 1989-2000
Terry Bradshaw 1970-1983
John Elway 1983-1998
Dan Fouts 1973-1987
Otto Graham 1946-1955
Bobby Layne 1948-1962
Joe Montana 1979-1994
Roger Staubach 1969-1979
Johnny Unitas 1956-1973

Plus, 2 Current QB's:

Tom Brady
Payton Manning (if he wins another Super Bowl or plays in at least 2 more Super Bowls).

Plus, I would also rank at least one of these two QB's from the pre-Modern error as better than Faavrraa:

Sammy Baugh 1937-1952
Sid Luckman 1939-1950

So that leaves Faavrraa at about 12 after the above QB’s.

Obviously, I am rating some of them on relative ability, since players today are stronger, faster, etc, because they have access to better training, steroids, human growth hormones, and better medical care.

For a QB, judgment and ability to win the big game is as important than physical ability. Wining the big game means not making stupid mistakes, somethat Faavrraa has done too often IMO.

I will reconsider if Faavrraa wins another Super Bowl, or even looses the Super Bowl through no fault of his own, but for now I stand pat at 12th best of all time (not just how far back you can remember).

Who do I root for? The Broncos, of course (but it was a tough year, and I don’t get to see all the games).

What I fail to understand is why Mr. Alan will not give the Giants credit for WINNING the game and seems intent on blaming Favre for LOSING it.

I have seen the game now and the Giants looked pretty strong to me. As a wild card team, they have played away games with three teams and have beaten them all. No simple feat.

Let's give credit to the Giants. They won the game fair and square.

Mr. Alan is a little like doc lub with brains. No offense intended, Alan.

He seems intent on holding his position, regardless how untenable it might be.

A. Favre is one of the best all time....u pick the number.

B. Scheme plays a VITAL role in who develops into a great qb.

C. The Giants were the better team on Sunday.

D. Very questionable play calls for Pack, too cold for long out routes. IMHO if GB stays with brought them to the dance....dink and dunk and improve from 1 for 10 3rd down conversions they win the game.

E. Reality is what it is. This is is Weds morning quarterbacking much less Monday morning. LOL

Perhaps the Giants were really good enough to beat the Packers after all.

Giants - 17
Patriots - 14

Super Bowl champions, NY Giants
